Happy birthday LL.. Hope you have a great meal and glad you enjoyed the movie sounds good fun :)

Thought it was about time to check back in and pull my socks up!! I have been working lots and generally sleeping any other time... Or at leat that's what the hamsters wheel feels like..

I must catch up on everyone's news and have a little read up so forgive me for not commenting lots tonight.,

I have kept up a basic level of fabbing although it needs a kick start. Old bits & bobs of skin care have finished up and I have treated mysel to elemis with vouchers mixed with some clarins. Gave myself a mini facial tonight before bed and lots of moisturiser on feet
I have had my hair cut etc two weeks ago so feel much better. Off to bed now as I'm tired... Healthy eating started today with some homemade vegetable juice too. I have also dug out some books on heathy eating & well I'm not sure what to call them? Make the best of yourself glam & heathy ways to take care of yourself..

Isn't it amazing what trying on the holidays clothes does... Talk about kick up derrière ....

Anyway hope everyone is well... :):)

Have been a bit more consistent with fabbing over the past fortnight. Had my second home facial - rice milk soap massage (very cleansing but not drying), Fuller's Earth face mask (1 kg tub from Ebay at a good price) and rose water as cleanser (£1.49 from local Asian grocer.) Also had my second shot at overnight hair mask with coconut oil - really pleased with the result. My hair is fine, flyaway and very curly - not a good combination - but today it's been soft, shiny and well behaved!

Sweetcheeks well done for getting back on the wagon. The Elemis and Clarins treat sounds lovely, sometimes we need a little luxury :)

Susan Yeay for soft, shiny hair :j

I got my hair cut yesterday and it is quite nice but not as nice as my hairdresser usually does it. My appointment was for 6.45 pm so I was the last person of the day and I think she just wanted to get home tbh.

We had someone to look at my Mums bungalow and the roof needs extensive work.
We remortgaged our house 14 years ago to buy the bungalow for my Mum and Dad to live in, so the repairs are down to me and it's going to cost a whopping £2500.:eek::eek:
At least my job which was temporary for 3 months has been extended until December, and I've been told could be extended again to March.

Visiting my Mum who is still in the care home. She has the plasters off her legs now and is quite liking all the company and activities where she is.
The care staff there seem really great so hats off to those carers doing what can be a difficult job,

Think I will fab up a bit before I go and wear my charity shop bargain from last week - brand new m & s jeans in white and soft blue phase eight silk top.
Together they cost me £7.50 so Frugal Fabbing at its best :j

Have a Fab Tuesday everyone :)

    Good morning lovely ladies.

Thank you so much for all your birthday wishes.

I had a lovely time and have been spoilt rotten......the meal out was gorgeous, a very naughty calorie fest!!

My boys clubbed together and bought me a fabulous new CD player, all sleek and "designery". dad is taking me to lunch today, so another day of "blow the diet".

Ill start again tomorrow - honest :rotfl:

I wore a very pretty silk, dresss last night, shades of blue, turqoise and purple - sounds garish but it isn't. One of my CS bargains that I picked up a while ago for £10. With my now almost completely white hair and tan it looked quite striking and I got a lot of compliments.

I had a little mooch round the chazza shops yesterday and picked up a greeny/grey floaty chiffon little number for £7.50. Bargain....it doesn't fit me yet but it will - Im determined!!!! Another great outfit for posh "do's".

I didnt report my weight loss yesterday - only 1lb. A bit disappointing. must do better.........

Great bargains there Rowan......and you too Susan with your bargain beauty products.

It just goes to show doesn't it, we can look good and dress well without breaking the bank........

    Frugal style rocks!!!

    Afternoon All

I'm glad you had a good birthday LL. The dress sounds lovely. Your outfits sound lovely too Rowan and the hair treatment sounds great Susan.

I've just got back from a business meeting at work and wore a summer dress which is a dark cream with pink flowers and short sleeved biscuit coloured jacket with cream open toed sandals.

The dress is one that I had originally put in the charity shop pile. Yesterday I fished it out again as I wondered if I could alter it to wear for a forties themed weekend we are having soon and once I'd started ended up altering it so I can wear it for everyday.

It was a calf length pull on dress - straight down with triangular panels inserted lower down to make a swirly bottom if that makes sense. It also had a frill round the neck and a droopy flower at the bottom of the V. I've shortened it by taking a four inch piece out at the waist and re-attaching the bottom so it now falls just below the knees. I used the piece I cut off to make small draped cap sleeves and cut off the frill and droopy flower to give a plain V- neckline. I couldn't be bothered to get the sewing machine out so spent yesterday catching up on recorded programmes and hand sewing. It was a charity shop buy but was originally from Per Una.

I've had lots of compliments about my hair which is still looking good even though the hairdresser visit was Saturday. It's a bit shorter than normal and cost me £60 for the colour and cut but I think it was worth every penny for how good it makes me feel. I made a New Year's Resolution a couple of years ago to spend a bit more on my hair and certainly haven't regretted it. I probably spend more on my hair than my clothes as virtually all my outfits come via the charity shop- but I am getting quite picky about what I buy and only bring home the good labels. Like the dress today I am quite happy to alter things if they've only cost a couple of pounds and it's no big deal if it doesn't work.

I keep weeding stuff out of my wardrobe and have another bag full to drop off so shall have a walk up to the charity shop now and take it and post a couple of letters. I'm off to a quiz night tonight so shall have to decide what to wear for that - maybe cropped white trousers and a raspberry pink top.

    Enjoy your day everyone

Kudos on the alterations Rose wood - it's a great skill to have. Per Una do some lovely things and the dresses in particular are good for re-working. And congratulations on the hairstyles you and LL.

Not so much fabbing today as I've been stuck in a training course all day and had to find something comfortable that still fits the *"$!~# dress code! Hot and airless room = misery. But at least it was easy to find a workable compromise since I've Kondoed my wardrobe - just have items I love now and not just "useful" stuff. So - a pair of neutral "lady chinos" (as Marion Keyes would say) and a soft white cotton shirt with little sprigs of lilac and green over it. And my only "dressy" flats which thankfully go with the trousers!

Didn't bother to wash my hair today after the coconut oil treatment - it's still behaving and hasn't frizzed yet. A not so minor miracle LOL

Also, after posting yesterday, I tried another old fashioned remedy I'd Ebayed - some sulphur and zinc lotion on a giant spot (brought out by the facial, so self inflicted). It hasn't killed it completely but it's shrunken to half the size and isn't quite as red and noticeable. The stuff smelled familiar so must have been something mum used when I was little. Much nicer than her usual Germolene - used normally for spots, bites and mouth ulcers - and, yes, it tasted just as vile as you'd imagine. To this day the smell of Germolene makes me feel sick!

    Hello fabbers.
Wishing you a belated, very Happy Birthday lesson learned - glad you had a nice day:)
To all are on, have been on, or are going on Holiday - hope you have/had/are having, a wonderful time.
Not much flabbiness to report here; I find if my heads not in the right place, "me" is the first thing to be neglected!
I have though, booked an appointment to get my hair coloured tomorrow. I've decided, like you, rose, that my hair fares better when I spend a bit more on it.
I feel guilty about this a) because I'm not calling the mobile hairdresser who I've had for the last couple of years and b) the salon I'm going to, which is the one I always used before, is soooo darn expensive!
The truth is though, my hair has gone such a brassy colour and the condition of it has suffered. Also, I feel that such a bright blonde no longer suits me and I kept asking my mobile lady for a darker tint with some caramel highlights (more in keeping with my natural colour) but she was always reluctant to do this and would talk me into having basically the same as she always did!
So - tomorrow I'll be skint, guilty, and have darker hair!:D

Have a good day, all x

A friend of mine used to go to a very exclusive salon and regularly spent a lot of money on her hair. The reason she gave was that she wore it every day and it was essential to have it looking as good as possible. This has always stuck with me and although I am a bit more frugal I am conscious of keeping my hair in good order.

Today I am going to get my hair and my eyebrows done. I booked through a local discount site and it will be costing half the amount it would otherwise.

I got a new bike a few weeks ago and the family and I have been heading out for regular cycles and although I have been away from it for over a decade I am loving it! My fitness wardrobe needs some additional items as I am trying to increase my exercise and I want to be comfortable (physically and emotionally) with the clothes I wear and so many of the items are less that flattering!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

I like your friend's logic Rummer!

I bought some new bras at the weekend as mine were too big - mostly on the back but thankfully I'd lost enough on the cup to get into the smaller size (Victoria's secret only go up to a US DDD cup and obviously the 34DDD is smaller than the 36DDD). Unfortunately I'm now aware that at least one of my sports bras is no longer supportive but I do have one with a smaller cup so I might get away with that one.

Apart from that not much fabbing has been taking place. I can't afford my dressing table yet so things are still packed up or not organised. :(
