Frugal Frump to Fab - 2015

I have a bar-B-Q coming up in 8 weeks time (equivalent to a wedding!). Do you have a list for me to get started on so that I feel fab by then?
The sky is the limit even Botox for the frown between my eyebrows.
I will of course be doing the usual mani, pedi, facial, defuzz and haircut. As well as exercising and trying to loose a few pounds.
Is there anything else apart from perfume?
Of course there is........perfume is just the first step to get you in the right mindset :rotfl:
And there's the key.....its all about what's in your head;) a bit of psychology goes a long way.
For me it's all about making the most of what you have right here, right now. Yes of course it's easier when you are the correct weight etc but even if you are overweight you can still make the best of yourself and both look, and feel fabulous.theres no need To delay, start today, don't put off starting till you've reached your desired target weight.
Start with the mirror test. A good honest and frank appraisal will tell you what you need to do.
It sounds like you've already given it some thought and are well on your way to sorting out some routines.0 -

LL is right about the honest appraisal but if it's as important as a wedding then planning your outfit should be high on the list. How 'posh' is this event? Are we talking garden party or smart jeans?
I've done a fabbing session this morning. I've a meeting later this afternoon which needs formal dress and while it's bright and sunny it's not very hot. So very much between seasons weather. So all the usual hair and make up, delighted to say my hair is now responding to blow drying so much better after blip with new stylist. I'm planning to wear my new(ish) straight black trousers with heels, purple shell top and a black (with tiny grey spots so not too black) jacket. Considering the trousers are New Look they're really well cut for my shape. It pays to shop around and try things on.
Meant to say DD that I really like your dress for the anniversary 'do' and while I wouldn't wear boots with it at this time of the year I think you should buy them. You know you love the style and you'll get loads of wear out of them next autumn/winter. So a good buy.0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
Well I've had four days on the Paleo, and I know I should wait a full week before weighing myself but I just couldn't resist this morning.....
4 days, lost 1.8lbs wahoo....... Only another 3 St 9.6 lbs to go:rotfl::rotfl:
More importantly my fibro pain is much better today.
Looks like another glorious day so hoping to have a potter in the garden. Then maybe a bit of bedroom Kondoing later, ive got two large bags of clothing, some of my mums and some of my old winter stuff. Tbh not really good enough for the chazza shop and too good for the recycling (took two large bags of mums clothes to the recycling the other day). Anyway I'll take them to one of those cash4clothes places, I'll probably only get a couple of £s but as I drive past one quite regularly it's no great hardship to drop them off.
Last time I did one I got £4 - better than a slap round the face with a wet haddock.:D
I've just had my renewal notice for my health insurance. Cheeky beggars!! Spend most of last evening trawling the web for quotes. I reckon I can just about half the premium....Result.
I am also in the process of shifting money around and opening new savings accounts. All very time consuming but hey ive got to make those pennies W O R K...;)
I've set up a special holiday/fun fund so any extra pennies I make go straight into there. Not sure what Im going to spend it on yet but it's surprising how, once you put your mind to it, these dribs and drabs start to mount up.
And if it's in a special treat/mad money fund then I will have no guilt if I decide to blow the lot on a cruise :rotfl.
Have a fab day.get lots of lovely Vit D from all that glorious sunshine.0 -
Well I just had my pamper session and while it went mainly to plan and was very relaxing I have put on the wrong colour of hair dye  I thought it was my usual shade and it most definitely is not. Mercifully it will fade :rotfl:
The healthy eating got back on track today which is good and I am hopeful that I will start getting into the habits soon.
It is so lovely having sunshine to relax inTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Oh dear, that did make me smile. sorry.
Hope it fades soon.
I've had one or two disasters in my time, once it went purple when it said "burgundy" on the packet and another time I used my usual henna but it went bright orange......
The sun was glorious and it looks set fair for tomorrow too. I did some weeding - had to kneel and sit on the earth, far too stiff and sore to just bend!!! Trouble is its not the getting down, it's the getting back up again. I'M like a beached whale......
GAwd but I feel decrepit these days. :rotfl:
Dad due to come out of hospital tomorrow. Whilst I'm pleased for him, part of me is dreading it because I'm not sure he will cope ......
Hey ho, we'll see.0 -
I hope your dad is OK today LL
Well I have joined Weight Watchers. I have about 15kg to lose and think the accountability will help. Also hoping to make some new friends in my local area from it as I have my friends at the stables, and my friends at work, but only really OH to socialise with at home away from the stables.
Unfortunately this is the week where we're going out for a team curry tomorrow, and OH and I are going for Thai at the weekend! Not the best to start on but hey ho.
How are the runners getting along? I did some on grass last night which my ankles did not appreciate but I think they'll get used to it, as I'm OK on tarmac now. Unfortunately it's not in the least bit flat around here. I may have to remove myself from the IHateRunning camp, but I'm not yet ready to move into the ILikeRunning camp!
I have to try and find time this week to dye my hair. Thankfully tinting my eyebrows/lashes takes a few minutes. Also have to do my legs before seeing the physio tonight :rotfl:0 -
Hi please can I join you lovely ladies? I have decided at long last to pluck up the courage to come out of lurk doom and dip my toe in the frump to fab waters! You all seem such a lovely, friendly motivated group.
I have been trying my best to follow your examples, I'm wearing perfume most days and my word, what a difference it makes to my confidence when I remember to use it.
I have been following slimming world since April last year and I have lost 2 stone (got to target in August and maintained since then) so am trying to improve the slimmer me in other ways, too.
I'll try my best to post updates and keep up with all!0 -
Hello and welcome Marzipan  it sounds as if you are off to a great start already
How inspiring you are to have lost weight, I have recently joined slimming world and I am hoping to trim down over the next few months.
The fabbing continuesToday I did my exercise session and managed to keep my diet on track, plus I made a real effort with my appearance. Going to do a mini pamper session before bed and I have fabbing plans for tomorrow.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Thank you, Rummer! You Can do it with SW- I have followed slimming world in the past but this time something really clicked in my head and I was totally in the zone when I was starting out with it. The fact that I had wept uncontrollably In Next changing rooms the weekend before I joined up really helped, not that I felt that at the time, it's only when I look back that I realise how much it spurred me on, I vowed to never feel that way again when looking in the mirror (like Lesson Learned says about the mirror test, this was a wake up call for me) my husband has been an amazing support to me and encourages me all the way. I'm lucky to have him.
I do find it hard to stay within target range but I'm sort of managing it if only so I don't have to pay the weekly fee at group. Haha.
I have dyed by eye brows this evening, the look fab ish! I am trying to grow them thicker, it's a challenge to keep them groomed haha. Baby steps, as they say.
Tonight it's a blitz with the fake tan mousse so I'll be baking over night and hopefully slightly tanned in the morning rather than pearly white as I currently am!
Spring has sprung me into action!0 -
Welcome Marzipan
I have been to the physio tonight so went out in short shorts with it being so warm - my legs are less pearly white and more like blinding white :rotfl:
Just got to jump in the shower (in case I don't get up early enough in the morning) then pack my gym stuff/work stuff/overnight stuff/going out stuff. I don't know where the evening went! We are going out for a curry so I'll play it safe with jeans, my black boots (to save on the amount I have to carry) a top and a jacket.
Times like this make me realise that I don't have that many smart/going out tops so when I have my post-weightloss shopping spree I will have to add a couple to the list!0
