FWIW, exercise didn't help me with weightloss. I found that nothing shifted until I changed the way I was eating. BUT, I'm not knocking exercise as it's great for toning muscles, building strength and a general feeling of wellbeing.

Agree wholeheartedly. I lose weight through adjusting my diet (calorie counting, rather than cutting food out) but exercise makes me stronger and fitter and happier.

Underneath my fat I have a rockin' body :rotfl:

Went swimming before work, physio after work, and have a few parcels to drop off at One Stop tonight. Going to walk up and see whether my body feels up to a bit of a run between lamp posts. I hate running. Much more at home in a swimming pool ;)

    Good morning lovely ladies

Well mums funeral went well yesterday but I have to say I'm glad it's all over. I'm exhausted. so today it's just a nice quiet day. DS2 is off and we are just going to play catch up and have a gentle potter. He is going to clean his fish tank and I'm going to do the next coat of paint on the mirror I am renovating. I Might do a bit if gardening if it's warm enough.

Tonight I am having dinner in one of my favourite restaurants with a lifelong friend who now lives in the US but who is back in the UK for a visit. It will be lovely to see her and we will have a nice old natter and catch up.

I do have to deal with mums will etc and dads paperwork but I've had a quick look and it doesn't look too bad. Not sure what dad is going to do long term but he seems ok. He just needs time now.

I've had almost 10 years of sickness and death, all I want to do now is put it all behind me and move on.

I've been thinking about that line in the the film The Shawshank Redemption" where Red says, "It's time to either get busy living, or get busy dying". Well I want to get busy living. Like Ewan McGreggor in "Trainspotting " when he decides to go clean and quit drugs - "I choose life" .

Today really is the first day of the rest of my life - I'm going to make it a good one. Today is a fresh new start, today I leave the sadness behind and move into the light.

I shall be 64 in a couple of months. From now on every day is going to have to count.......;)

Glad to hear yesterday went well LL.

I was executor for my mother and my aunt and that was fairly straightforward and I would imagine with your dad still with us it'll be easier still. I'm sure that with your skills with forms and organisations you'll soon get it sorted. I've been full of admiration for the way you've managed to organise care for your DH, mum and dad, no mean feat.:A

So, onwards and upwards!! Have a lovely time with your friend this evening and be kind to yourself. This thread is the perfect place for that.;)

It's a beautiful day here and I'm hoping that after we've sorted out the ISA transfer (decided to go to BS in person rather than risk another problem doing it by post/online) I'm hoping to drag DH for a bit of a walk. He's incredibly busy with his Tour Guiding at the moment so he needs a bit of time out.

I've put clean jeans and a skinny long sleeved top on hope I won't be too hot. Will need proper shoes and socks in case we have a walk.

Nipped into TK Maxx on Friday and bought two pairs of shoes. Didn't have time to ponder as they were about to close. One pair of these

but at half the price. I've got black ones which I love. And a pair of black suede Dune ballet pumps. Plus I've got the leather pumps I got in Sainsbury's sale. So this morning two old pairs are going in the bin and one in the bag for CS because they're frumpy.

So my summer shoes almost sorted although still open minded on some other sandals if I see a style I like and maybe Converse. I've got some patent wedges that still look good.

This sun is good for me.:D

    Morning All

I'm glad that the funeral went well for you LL. I hope that you can now rest and rejuvenate, especially with the warm spring weather.

I've been to Pilates this morning and feel well stretched. Two people commented on the weight loss which is very encouraging and helps keep me going.

I have work this afternoon and its an extra long shift as instead of finishing at 5 I have to wait till 7 as someone can't get there for 5. I was going to do a cooked lunch so I'm not cooking when I get home but my Mother has just rung and invited us out for lunch - so even better.

I'm wearing cream cropped trousers with a black draped neck top with lace cap sleeves today and will team it with a fitted dark cream/light brown jacket when I go out. I'm trying to persuade DH to get his bike out so we can cycle up to the restaurant. He's just been for a check up at the doctors and had statins suggested but I think a bit more exercise and losing a bit of weight would be far more beneficial to him.

I like the shoes Maman. I was thinking of splashing out and getting a couple of new pairs for Summer. Today I've got a choice of slightly battered cream loafers or a pair of tan wedge sandals to go with the outfit so shall go and try both on. I wear a pair of flip flops indoors so all shoes are just for outdoor wear.

Right, oven is beeping so my scones should be ready. I have made some as a present for a colleague and will leave just one for DH and take one for my Mother so I can't be tempted when I get home tonight.

I need to sort out summer shoes too, plus I need to book in a chiropodist visit.

Maman - i Was interested to see your problems with sorting out your ISA. I have been having similar issues with opening savings accounts etc.

I have been trying to shift money around to get better interest rates. I can't believe how difficult and complicated it has been. I've spent some time this morning transferring money, luckily DS2 was on hand to supervise with the online stuff. :rotfl: still it was a job well done this Mornng.

Lovely sunny day here so am now going to get out in the sun.
  • Glad funeral went well LL. Onward and upward as they say! I'm feeling much better with the lovely weather. Nice to be able to wear some lighter clothing too.

I have given up all fabbing the last few weeks and it is really starting to show :o Been unwell (nothing serious just a run of bugs) and that has just led to only the basics being maintained. However I am worth more than just essential maintenance so today I have taken steps to get back into good habits.

Last week I got my new summer sandals after my old faithfuls had to go last year. They were on offer so that made the cost a bit more bearable and they should go with anything so hopefully they will be the only shoe purchase I need for a while.

Summer clothes are always a dread of mine so this year I am determined to drop a dress size and get back into all the lovely clothes I have packed away. There are still a few months left to slim and tone and I can do this!

Maman mame sure you try on converse before buying. I own some and they are the least comfortable shoes I have owned. It must be my foot shape as others have raved about them and they look great but sadly they are just not for me.

    Hello everyone,

Glad the funeral went well LL.

I agree with everyone else about exercise. When I lost weight ages ago I didn't do any exercise at all, so I was thin but I was unfit and still a bit flabby, even though I only weighed 8 stone. I exercise now for fitness (obviously), to be stronger and have more energy. I exercised today for the first time in about a month, I had a cold then the cough hung around for weeks, only now do I feel well enough to do something. I feel great now I've done it!

We don't have the nice weather here unfortunately, but I've dressed in something bright which makes things feel less dull. I tried to buy some new clothes on Monday but had severe price shock so I didn't get anything at all. Maybe next time. Have a good day.

    Hi all

I am glad the funeral went well LL, here's to living life to the full :)

I am getting a substantial bonus at the end of the month (3/4 of my monthly salary before tax) and I said to OH that we should book a holiday. I can feel some depression sneaking back in for a multitude of reasons, some of which I can control and some I can't. I think I just need a week completely away from it all.

As well as the holiday I want to treat myself to a new outfit and a handbag so probably £150-200. Depending on when we decide to go away I can probably use my holiday clothes from last year otherwise my new outfit money will go towards that instead.

The remainder will go into the normal budget.
