Hello everyone
Thanks for all your good wishes and kind thoughts.
Had a really busy day, cleared out mums room at the nursing home because my sister and my dad couldn't face it. Her belongings are all just neatly sorted into categories and boxed away for now. I registered her death today and have arranged for the funeral directors to see us tomorrow.
My dad has seen reason and has backed off the whole Catholic service thing. I think his own sister gave him a talking to!!! Of course he listens to her, she is his big sister. Turns out she knew mum better than he did, he thought it was mum wanted, but Aunty G soon put him right. Bless her, she's done me a big favour.
My sister wants the kind of funeral I did for my husband. I think dad will enjoy what we have planned. I'm letting my sister make all of the choices et c. She is desperately upset at losing mum and I think she needs to do this. Putting her heart into making it the perfect send off will be the soothing balm she needs.
I'm just watching a Riverdance special. Both my mum and my husband were big fans I can just picture them dancing a jig together in the afterworld.
I'm thinking about choosing some music by Enya for mum, also something by Libera. Sis and my ds2 are putting a montage together with a recording of "J'attendrai ". It was mums party piece, she would sing it at family gatherings.
We had the what are we going to wear talk. :rotfl:
Sis is wearing her black embroidered silk cheongsam, it's covered in brightly coloured embroidered flowers and butterflies - mum loved it.
I can't quite decide yet - either the blue/grey silk Jackie O dress and jacket combo I wore for OHs funeral, or a silver grey sequinned dress ive not actually worn yet. Mum did love a bit of glitter and sparkle:rotfl: - she loved rich fabrics like silk, velvets, anything with a few sparkles so she would approve of either outfit.
At any rate we have to pull out the stops and bring on the glamour. Our mother liked to see us dressed up, wearing make up, etc. if ever I slipped she would gently chide me for "letting myself go":rotfl:
She would have loved our Fabbing Thread.......;)0 -
Your mum can be an honorary member Ll, I think the silver sparkly number sounds just the ticket

Hello all.
LL I am so sorry for your loss, I hope the funeral goes as planed and the outfits sound wonderful the perfect salute to your mother so to speak. Glad dads sister had a chat and it has made things easier for you and sister at such a difficult time. Thoughts are with you and all the family x
Been Mia with hospital visit and a second family funeral three weeks since first one. buried aunt then we buried husband too.. just shows people do die of a broken heart and they give up.
Fabbing non existent and eating very bad.. Will give myself and shake for next week I think..
Take care all0 -
Oh Sweetcheeks - how sad that husband follows aunt so quickly. It's not uncommon though, I really do believe that people can die of a broken heart. They just lose the will to live.
I do have concerns about how dad will cope. I would like to think he can pull back from the brink and have a Couple of good years, but I'm not sure if he can do it.
I try to help him but there is no way he will ever listen to anything I have to say. He has no hobbies, interests or passions, he has no friends, he alienates everyone with his argumentative and contrary nature. He is just a restless spirit. Contentment and a life of Zen like peace and tranquility are not for him. With mum gone his life will be empty and he won't know how to fiill the void that she has left. He's going to be very lonely.
Re the eating and fabbing. Don't worry Sweetcheeks - we all fall off the wagon. For the last week or so I've been eating on the run, grabbing a bit of sleep when I can and yes it takes its toll. My diet has not been good, I need to get back to regular meals, fruit and veg, asap.
Just as soon as I know the date of the funeral I'm going to plan a couple of fabbing treatments, Physio, hair cut and colour, facial. I need to get back on track.0
