Used all your brown (in my case Daddies) sauce? Couple of shakes in the sauce bottle of vinegar and a good shake and enough sauce for another bacon butty !
  • Only flush it down when it's brown (When it's yellow let it mellow).

Wash out freezer bags, hang them up to dry and reuse.

Use free carrier bags from supermarkets as bin liners.

Use paper napkins from cafes and restaurants instead of paper handkerchiefs.

On train journeys into London always use toilet on train just before arrival rather than paying to use toilet in station.
  • I once spent months collecting the nylon net bags that onions, lemons, oranges etc come in and wrapped them all up to make a scouring pad - sad isn't it? But you could argue it was more environmentally friendly than sending straight to landfill!

I still save the little bits of soap at the end of a bar, chop them up and use a little ages-old 'soap squisher' device to make a travel size bar.
  • When running off cold water to wait for the hot to emerge, either run it into the kettle, or into a jug with a lid. Use it rather than just run it down the drain.
Only ever boil enough water in kettle (or a pan if cooking) needed for the task in hand; save energy.
  • I buy multi packets of multiple socks in the sales,I got 7 X 7 pairs of socks, this means I don't have to throw many odd socks out. ;)
I have a deep burning indifference

I think the question implies moneysaving=good, but stingy crosses the line.......
I do plenty of excellent moneysaving things, too many to list here but will be familiar to members of MSE. There are a few that could be described as stingy & that probably embarrass my family - getting 2 cups out of one teabag, making gift tags from the previous years Christmas cards, cutting open tubes to get the last out (although I only bother for expensive stuff), turning the heating down & putting a jumper on, yellow sticker food, recycling gift bags multiple times........

Not quite as 'stingy' but if you're not keen on drinking water from the hot water system then you can add it to a waterbutt for use in the garden :)
Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...

I wouldn't be too keen on using this for food or drinking use. The hot water is normally fed from a tank in the loft and the water can be anything but fresh. Plus these header tanks can often contain nasties (lots of muck from the heating system and dead pigeons are not unheard of).

I wash out and use every bottle/can/tube. Hair shampoo/tinned tomatoes/ sauces etc,
The tea bag thread reminds me of visiting a science staff room a few years back (I am a retired teacher) where all the staff had a wooden clothes peg with their own personal tea bag attached. Some had been reused 5 times! I wasn't offered a cup. I use a small tea pot/tea cosy and add extra hot water - can manage 4 small mugs from one bag.
I have a cousin that always takes her own (green) tea bag everywhere with her - even to restaurants and re squeezes it for reuse when finished.

Current stingy thing - burning old paper shreddings on the fire - our son gave us a block thing last year that you put them in once soaked, press and let dry.

    Works OK.

I bought Wairose Essentials baked beans the other day. To be fair they actually taste pretty much identical to Heinz.

    Then they probably are Heinz!
