Using self-service machines wherever possible and putting ridiculously small amounts (lowest was 40p I think) on a cashback credit card, and even occasionally doing so at staffed checkouts (smallest was something like a £2.20 pint in Wetherspoons)
  • Ripping used tea light candles apart and putting the unused wax into the well of a larger candle..... seems sacrilege to just throw it out.
    Solar PV cost £5760 (15/03/13)
FIT inc + Electricity saved £3746 (65% Paid back) Tax free

  • My elderly mother dries out sheets of kitchen paper over the backs of chairs and reuses them. Juan Sheet does plenty!

.........and keep any glittery gift bags received to use for someone else's birthday/xmas present next time. That's just sensible!

Don't forget to re-gift the cheap wine too.

Daily clicks on various websites - £200 a year, not sure it is worth my time but it is a silly habit I can't get out of.

Can you enlighten us which ones you use please? The only daily clicks I was aware of were for charity sites like Saving the Rainforest, where sponsors donate a small amount to the charity for every click made.

I might just be doing the most stingy thing right now. I am making turkey carcass soup for my dog, it is more about treating him though than saving money.
Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop
