Absolutely, but then you wouldn't buy a worse phone just because it has a longer warranty. That's not very money saving!

    In your mind though
My Satio from CPW is still going strong as is my K750, K850, xperia Ray, I currently have the original xperia Z which has been faultless and 2 years old in March 2015, that said so has my ipod touch 4th gen.
SE are quite happy to deal with any quiery's long after the warranty has expired.

If the OP has not used any of the OS, it maybe worth him having a play with them in a store on several visits.

If iPhones are so good/reliable, why the warranty is so short then? Can it be that Sony's warranty is longer because the phone is better / more reliable?

Or maybe just when comparing iPhone for £28 with Sony for £28 you simply have to add the cost of Apple Care to the price?

The warranty length has no bearing on how long the device will last. Its very odd that you think that it does!
    In your mind though

lol, where else do you think opinions reside?! You lot post some very odd things!

When you say you lot, you mean us lot? Including yourself, yes you are correct that opinions reside within one's own mind.
I hope the thread doesn't get into one of those apple/android debates (haven't seen thegoodman for a while), the universal answer of x is better than why in the subject case is an incorrect one.
As it is clear for you Apple wins out hands down. Other's thoughts may differ . Both are succesful platforms and that speaks for itself.

I've had an issue with Sony refusing to honour a warranty in the past, whereas I've had Apple replace an item out of warranty FOC.

Also, if you do break an Apple phone, they will offer you a replacement for approx half the new price. I don't think any other supplier offers that.

So what do you suggest the OP do?
From some of the thread it seems the Apple WILL fail and require some kind of warranty claim
I'm sure that's not the case but that's how it is reading.
After all it is the OP that will be forking out for the next 24 months.

    Where did I say 'last'?
What I said was 'reliable'. If the device is reliable, there is no reason for the manufacturer to offer much shorter warranty than other manufacturers offer for similar devices.
If the reliability is the same, the reason can be to fool a customer by making the price looking better than it actually is after the normal/typical warranty is taken into consideration.
  • Part of the reason the warranty on Apple products is shorter is that they actually adhere to it when it comes to the customer having a fault with the product.

Would rather have a 1 year (as opposed to a 2 year with Sony) warranty with Apple if I had the peace of mind of knowing that Apple were likely to ship me out a new model.

Is that a fact, or something you have dreamt up?
