    Hiya...

I forgot to 'register' for this months challenge, but I was working on £200 (a lot, I know, but if I see a bargain, I stock up  ) a month for me, OH and our baby.

I've still got £40 and a £17 tesco voucher in my purse and my month ends on 26th, so, unless I'm very silly, we will have £57 left this month. How and ever, we were away for a week, so it works out :)

I have also only spent £10 each on both gas and electric (pre payment meter), but have plenty to last into next month as well.

I knew I shouldn't have spoken so soon! 'Popped' into Boots this afternoon after a visit to the optician's and spent £19-64 on toiletries. But, they were all on offer so have managed to put the £10.20 saved into my PMS making the total £29-13 which I am quite pleased about.

I must be more strong willed though as I now have only £71-73 to last till 31st August and number 1 daughter coming for the weekend! I think the big Sunday lunch is going to have to be cut back a bit. I hope she brings the wine!
  • I have £10.27 left after a quick shop for bits and pieces. Bought a bit too many sweet things too :p

I think I'm going to go a bit over this month too....I've got that "Autumn" feeling and the Damsons on my trees have just ripened, hence a trip to Mr T's last night for sugar, raisins, baking apples, etc etc ready for the damson chutney to be made - that will deffo put me over the budget

I know just how you feel. My MIL gave me about 5lbs of plums yesterday but I don't have enough sugar in to make them into jam (which is the only way I can face eating them as a result of a nasty experience at school dinners when I was five!) . I had got in extra sugar to make marmelade which we ran out of today so I had to make that first. Never mind, last supermarket shop of the month tomorrow so I will be able to get some then.

Also you can feel virtuous when you see all those lovley jars gleaming on the shelf and know that a) you have saved money beacuse buying the equivalent quality from the supermarket would cost much more and b) there are no nasty e-numbers or suchlike in them.

And the sun is shining and it is going to be a bank holiday weekend! So keep up the good work everyone and here's to September!

Thanks for your words of encouragement Moniker. :A :T :T - I have to say I had a bit of a spurt of energy this afternoon but didn't fancy making the chutney yet, so I am proudly surveying 8 pounds of Damson jelly which is cooling in jars as we speak. Oh, and I went out foraging this afternoon and got some rosehips, so I've had my first attempt at rosehip syrup as well! (It's a good job I couldn't find any blackberries or I'd be too busy making bramble jelly to post on the board tonight!:rotfl: )

As you can see by my amended signature, I have about £5 left until a week tomorrow. I could probably just about manage if I wasn't committed to a veg box tomorrow for £10.50, oh and I need a chicken for Sunday!

Oh well, BIG SIGHS, try again next month! :o

I'm still going to keep a tally for this month, just to see how much I go over, and then I'll see you all on September's challenge from next week!
