August 2007 Grocery Challenge

Hello everybody
Major disappointment. Have tallied up my spend for August and have gone over budget massively. Challenge was £350 spend SO FAR £432.65 and still have 5 days to go until day one of September challenge.
So am admitting defeat for August and drawing a line under it also.
See you all in the September challenge.0 -
OH payday came earlier due to BH, so have completed month a smidge earlier than intended. Unfortunately, it does mean that September will be a long month as the 1st payday will be 28th. We also have visitors for the final week, so that'll be tricky. Fingers crossed.
I have noticed people talking about a bonus 500 points from Mr T. A friend of mine got this too, but we didn't, just £4.50 plus the usual 25 extra when you buy this that and the other. How come?Ssshh - I might know about deals in/near Keswick0 -
This is my first month on the GC, but I have made it my monthly spends budget, so it does include all my petrol, haircuts and some back to school stuff for the kids I will have to end this month a teeny weeny bit earlier than planned though. I had said I would run until Sun 2/9, that would be my full 4 weeks, but because I have been unexpectedly invited to Blackpool overnight on the 1/9, I am going to end the challenge on Fri 31/8. Is that okay????
I'll just start my sept budget from 1/9.

Hi everyone
Haven't posted on here since the beginning of the month. Sort of lost the plot after the first week and haven't been able to catch up since. I've decided to abandon the grocery challenge for this month and start again.
I get paid on the 30th August so my new challenge will then start and run until the 25th September when I get paid again. Well done to everyone who stuck to it even if you went over, at least you kept track of it and didn't just give up like me. lol.
I will have £30 to spend as due to my pay dates moving it will only be a three week month - give or take a day or two. Am determined to keep to it as I was doing well previously, although overspending by about £10 a month.
thanx to everyone for the good ideas and encouragement
Cheers

still havent spent anything on food or even milk, since I last logged on, I,m very sad and a wee bit bit drunk tonight as my wee cat poirot was hit by a car today. I feel very guilty coz I was at work and couldnt get him in this morning before I went out. So he would have been hungry, I,m told by a nieghbour, that he ran ,after being hit up the stairs and died on the doorstep, this is so silly, to feel so bad, he had a nice life, but I miss him already. draw a line under August and move on!!
hate it when I know I've gone over budget, but I remind myself that a few months ago I didnt even HAVE a budget, so I've made progress :T
You know that really is the point, isn't it? I was feeling glum and not sure how to show my face on this thread after going so over budget but I reaslised when I read your words that at least I'm not burying my head in the sand anymore and I'm trying to deal with my spending now. So maybe I've fluffed it the last couple of times but tomorrows another month for me. Best foot forward and I've planned this months spending with almost military precision.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Sorry about your cat Teedy.:grouphug:
I've done 3 shops since I last updated so £21.53 @ Mr T, £18.40 @ Asda and £46.96 @ Morrissons. I need bread and stuff today so will update again later.
Still in budget though but will cut the budget in September as should be less when kids are at school.
