    well Ive come in over budget, as I had to go and buy a few bits yesterday but that totaled £40.84 however I did buy shower gels (bog off) washing powder (reduced for a huge box) shampoos (bog off) and toilet roll (special offer for 12) that I didn't need.

    So I'm now well stocked up on those so even if I went over this month I won't have to buy them again for a while :)

    (Also bought a stick blender so I dont have to dig out the processor every time I want to blend up some soup so really that should have come of the total)

    So sorry about your cat Teedy. I know that pets can be very much loved and become one's friend making the loss hard to bear. Try and keep cheerful and when you're ready get another one if possible.

    I think I am going to go a bit over, but not sure. Haven't updated my siggy for a bit as have been quite busy. will do so as a matter of urgency.
  • Hi everyone,
    I have just done my last shop for August and spent £53.85 making a total of £157.62 but doesn't include £40 ish we spent on eating out so I blew a big hole in my £180 budget hopefully with the children back at school next week I'll be able to try again, thanks for all the tips and advice see you all for the September challenge, Shell.
  • Hi everyone

    Thought with only 2 days left to go I'd better update! Well, done well this month - definately don't need to buy anything in next 2 days and my store cupboard is well stocked. I've come in at just under £40 under my budget of £160 :j

    As I'd already knocked £40 off my normal monthly budget for this month, I've obviously been spending too much previously!! I haven't found it too painful this month so think I will have to knock budget down again by a bit for September's Grocery Challenge :eek:

    Sorry to hear about your cat Teedy.

    Teedy - so so sorry to hear about your little cat, I can understand totally how you feel, you shouldn't feel guilty though, I am sure poirot knew how much he was loved and at least you know what happened and it was over quickly

    On the subject of budget, I havn't updated my sig since my holiday, gone a bit astray, what with being away and all, I have just had a Tesco delivery of £65 with quite a bit of meat and am quite well stocked up with toiletries etc. so even though I know I have gone over budget this month (my first month) I am really going to try to stick to the £300 I had for August..I didn't count my holiday week and I was still over, so lots of work to do this month...

    I will start from Monday as I am away again now till Sunday evening and I think I will break it down in weeks as it might help keep me in check, so thats £75 per week...

    Well done to all of you who have managed to stick to it this month, especially those with kids at home for the hols...

    Wow, I LOVE this challenge!!!!
    I am just under my financial target for the month, have a full freezer and lots in the cupboard. Did not think it was possible!
    Since joining the Grocery challenge I have cut our average monthly spend by:
    June = £ 70
    July = £ 76
    August = £148 (various members of the family were away but also had
    visitors to stay, friends for meals etc).
    Very ashamed of our bad food habits in the past!
    Looking forward to September!
    I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

    This was my first month as a DFW and my first grocery challenge. We have eaten well and put more thought and planning into what we are eating than usual. I am definitely going to do this challenge again.

    August Target 400 spent 287.
