Belated hapy birfs Teedy - hope you enjoyed your M&S treats!

Did my last shop of the month tonight, plus paid for my veg box. Went a bit mad in Tesco (I think it was "may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb" syndrome - oh dear!)

Still, got everything I need until next week, when my month starts again.

Went over budget this month by just over £18.00 including around £12.00 for stuff I needed for Autumn preserving, so not too bad I suppose.

I think I need to work a bit harder on planning my budget, rather than just taking an educated guess (not very educated in my case!)

Right, going to beat a hasty retreat from August challenge now, running off to the September challenge and a fresh start.......see you all there!
  • Hi everyone

Have had a bit of a busy week this week and not been able to update but have now updated my signature! Had big Tesco shop delivered a couple of days ago bringing my total for the month up to £120.85 but still nearly £40 under budget for the month:D

Did a big shop even though didn't really need it to use up voucher for 500 points that was due to run out soon - but this way I've got plenty of food in to last me till the 31st and stuff to make lots of meals, cakes, etc from scratch for the start of next month too:T

Only 6 days to go before I can start my September challenge! This thread is really keeping me on track, thanks guys

  • Hi everyone:hello:, this is the first time I've posted since I accepted this challenge. I really didn't think I would be anywhere near my budget, because remember I said this was to include petrol as well. In actual fact, I have added all of my spending into this budget, even though I do the weekly challenge, the money for that also comes out of this budget. I'm so excited, with only 8 days to go it's looking like I might make it, I can hardly wait:j.
I really do need to get a life.
I did have a good bit of help this last week though, got a lot of leftovers from neighbours BBQ, on Monday, and it has fed all 4 of us nearly all week, with only a minimum amount of topping up. And dd1 brought me down some of her chicken curry needing used up. My 2dds still at home have started calling my meals hunt the beef, chicken, pork, casserole, stew or whatever, because they say there is so many vegetables they can never find the meat:rotfl:. I just tell them when they're old enough to buy the food they can have as much meat as they want!!!
If I do manage the challenge in budget, I'll try and cut it for next month.

Well I am now officially over budget:rolleyes: . We ran out of plasters so that was £1.99 in the chemist. Then popped into Somerfield to get some bio yoghurt to do the HM in a flask kind (which turned out fab:j ) and bought some more "clover" for DH sandwiches, 24 pack of Weetabix for £1 (bargain me things - weetabix brownies coming up;) ) and some more bananas for DD2 (who is currently addicted to them) so now nearly £7 over budget.

I have been sent £15 off £100 shop codes from tesco but am seriously thinking of just doing a week at a time shop I may pay £3 delivery from Mr T but I think it would stop the unnecessary spending.

I still have a huge bag of pasta left, 2 1/2 big packs of noodles from the Chinese supermarket and 2kg bag of rice so plenty to take over to next month so am hopeful that next month I WILL crack it.

Hi all! I might just manage this... hope I'm not tempting fate... but I have either £13.46 or £9-83 left and only have 3 days (including today) left in "Aug" for me paywise. Somehow I've managed to loose £3.63 from one or the other of my budgets as things are no longer tallying up  and I have no idea whats happened :rotfl: so I'm not entirely sure how much I have left and my food budget may have to take the hit unless I work out where it has gone!!:o

Updated my sig after today's shopping (all of which is for visitors this weekend). I have £1.30 until Friday which I'm actually laughing about, it should be interesting. I won't go over my budget either as there's none left in my other purse. (Laughter could be hysteria by Thursday).

Going to write my wish list shopping list for next month and then declare my hand on the new thread. Hint; it's going to be more than I allowed for this month. Could probably have done it for me alone but I've had more visitors this month than usual.

Well done folks that kept within budget. Lessons learned folks that didn't. See you on the September thread.

As you will see from my sig I have failed miserably this month and gone £17-50 over budget. In my defence, number 1 daughter came home a day earlier than expected because she was ill and I had to buy extra food and stuff to help her feel better. But that 's no excuse really as I took my list to Sainsbury's but DIDN'T STICK TO IT! I succumbed to two bottles of wine and some raspberries and creme fraiche! And now I thinik I am going down with the lurgy as well.

I did manged to boost my PMS though and will be putting £31 into my ISA on Thursday so that cheers me up!

Well, it was my first attempt at this so I am better prepared for next month - well done to all those of you who managed to do it! See you all in the September challenge.

Moniker, dont beat yourself up, think how much you would have spent if you hadnt been watching your budget at all!!

I hope you and your daughter are feeling well again soon - maybe you should count the wine as medicinal!! :rotfl:

  • I have finally lost it. With the busy working weekend last weekend and being rushed off our feet this bank holiday weekend i am not sure where i am at. Its a case of eat and run at the moment so whether thats "if its" or take away we have had it and haven't really thought about the money too much. But i am sitting down and working September out. August is done and not much i can do about the past but concentrate on the future months! I will also have time to log on here each day which gives me so much determination. New month starts Tuesday!

Exactly!! draw a line under August and move on!!

hate it when I know I've gone over budget, but I remind myself that a few months ago I didnt even HAVE a budget, so I've made progress although not as much as I would like. :T
