I was sure I'd nearly reached the top of my budget as I'd bought a few things to make cakes for visiting and a few bits and bobs but I've obviously paid myself back for non-essential treats and forgotten about it so my total is still £85. Cracking!

I've been sticking really hard to my meal plan this week, it's paying off if I'm going to be within budget but the freezer will be bare by the end of next week.
I've also got two separate lots of visitors to feed this weekend, nothing elaborate but 5 mouths rather than one makes a big difference. I'll just have to be inventive with that £15!

Not long 'til September folks, keep hanging on..

  • I've just been helped out by my ma. She's bought me enough food for nearly 2 weeks I'd say yippie so no more to spend on food for this month for definate. Doesn't solve my rent and bills problem but it helps  . Boyfriend does owe me £110 and is giving most, if not all, back to me soon and the little mice can be sold on the 5th so that's a bit of money to help. Rent is £130, electricity £10 and council tax is £30 for me so it doesn't quite add up but I'm sure I'll manage somehow even if it means getting my ma to get some money out of my adult account that I'd rather not go into. All is not lost...quite yet lol.

Well I did say any overspend would be added to next months, this time not going to try to reduce it again, I think I hit my comfort zone then pushed my luck :o especially as it's the school hols. Oven breaking of course didn't help. Just added another £4 tonight for my fruit and veg, the delivery lady had a few offers on which helped. Ok sometimes I can't get an occasional thing I want as we're the last houses on her route tonight but means I sometimes get double what others did for same price :D

I suppose I just have to look at it as I made a few mistakes, trying to reduce it over the hols is a lesson learned. The positive is compared to this time last year, I spent over double what I have inc takeaways etc. Oh and first time over since December.

Roll on September. Only a week to go for me, phew!
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Hmm well I am not going to do it. I have had 5 weeks. Spent about £45 treating people to food because I had a wee win. Am still going to try and not go over too much and will do a menu plan but will need to spend a wee bit this weekend. Was determined to do it as well. Oh well I'm not going to beat myself up about it as I can afford it this month. Well done those who are managing x

Happy birthday for yesterday Teedy! :bdaycake:

I spent £16.24 yesterday, last spend for this month; I'm in budget but thats mostly because I lived on bovril and toast for best part of a week whilst I was ill. not recommended as a way of budgetary control! :D

off to sign up for september, see you there

Just been to Lidl, spent €38.36 which leaves me with €4.33 to get to Friday next...will only need milk I think, we use very little so should be fine...had hoped to have €10 left, but you can't win them all!

Well done Donna, we shouldnt get too hung up on the actual numbers - as you say, the aim is control of spending and i think we're all doing great on that one! :T:T:T

    Happy birthday for yesterday Teedy

Donna, I'm the same, what I have in will no doubt roll over some of it for next month, I seriously need to do a meal plan for this week but have very little inspiration. Oh and spent another £13 in the farm shop butchers today, to be fair I got a pile of sausages (pork and chesnut which are amazing!) 2 large sirloin steaks, 1lb and a bit of mince and a pile (well over 1lb) of bacon home cured so doesn't shrink. I could see him adding up the price and it should have been over £15, he never charges me full price being a regular, plus I put a big order in for the BBQ next week (I'm not paying but if I'm cooking will only buy good grub!) :D I didn't really 'need' to buy it, just couldn't resist once I was in there.
One day I might be more organised...........
