Ooops loks like I am going to be over this month. Was doing really well until yesterday. I won £500 and spent money on sweets, mcdonalds, cakes etc to give the kids a much needed treat. We all feel sick now :rotfl: . Getting a delivery tomorrow from ASDA so will be back to normal from Monday. Will try my damndest to keep in under budget but not too hopeful. Never mind we need a breakout every now and again. xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.000 -
ROSIEBEN ~ sorry to hear youve been unwell, hope your fighting fit ASAP.
MILLIONAIREINTRAINING~ well done on your win, (rubs you for luck:p )
im doing well and have resisted going ASDA and am hoping to avoid it till next week. i desperatly need to defrost the freezer,so am forcing myself to come up with ideas to clear it. This week should be ok, next week the meals will get wacky!:rotfl:
hope everyone comes in on budget and dont beat yourself up if you dont (listen to the voice of experience,i failed my first challenge last month:o )
But by failing, i can now see why and can do better this month (thats the plan anyway, all character building  )0 -
RosieBen - sorry you've been unwell. Love your little fade-to-white smiley!
Co-op down the road proving to be a big problem. So easy to go in there.Putting off big Mr T shop until OH has pin for new 2% cashback on grocery credit card, hopefully by Wed. Plenty in freezer so should be store cupboarding anyway but do need fresh food top-up. Want to run freezer down anyway - it's too old and inefficient.

Have been messing around a bit this month, no proper meal planning done, so feel that I am very lucky to have €4.72 per day left to end of month to stay within budget...we have meat/fish for maybe 10 dinners, limited amount of veg from garden and will need to buy milk, juice and some fresh fruit...although now that I think about it, there are some tins of fruit that can be pressed into service, both freezers need emptying, think in fact that f/freezer is on its last legs, so may empty it and see if we can get by without it...its old and probably using mountains of electricity!
Really need to sort myself out on this budget thing, OH buys food sometimes out of 'his own' money so am probably not doing as well as it seems. Oh well, roll on perfection in September!

I have just spent the last of my budget on a Mr T shop. Have worked out meal plan till end of month and order milk etc to pop in freezer (so no trips to somerfield). Have order f&v plus bit of frozen veg for towards end. This has been very tight but in my defence - I have had to spend best part of £10 on calpol for DD as she has fractured her arm, plus ended up spending £15 in McDonalds on the night we took her to A&E (this is the one I really hate waste of money!) plus DH prescription was another £6.85 and then another £10 because he wanted to change the razors he was using. Plus I paid for DDs manicure £10 (treat for being good plus hoped it would stop her biting her nails).
So feeling a bit p'd off with myself but more determined to hold onto those purse strings next month.0 -
shell2001, dont feel bad about this, you have a family, and that makes for deviation. I,m sure your daughter appriciates what you,ve done for her and I hope she,s not in too much pain, money spent making your family happier cant be a waste. I took my GD out for lunch on thursday and spent £40 on her for a pair of trousers for school!!! I couldnt really afford it but wanted to treat her and keep our lunch date going,as I dont think I see her as much as I should. Money well spent:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
Well except mastered my mortgage 5 yrs early :T:j

Hi all
Rosieben...sorry to hear you've been so poorly, hope you are feeling better soon.
Teedy....you are SO right in your "words of wisdom" to Shell2001...and I really admire your view about money spent on making people happy being well spent...big hugs.
Went to Mr T's last night and spend about what I expected, and I did do a little "stock up" on toiletries using the Health and Beauty vouchers (a tip I picked up on another thread on this site - many thanks).
I now have about £20 left for the next 2 weeks but have plenty of stuff in. I'm committed to £10.50 for a veg box next Friday, so that leaves me £9.50 for everything else. Should just about make it (I hope).
OH at the football match today so spent this afternoon re-listing the freezer contents and starting to meal plan for next month - (note to self, maybe I should think about getting a life!) :rotfl: :rotfl:
Good luck to everyone as we approach the end of this month. :A0 -
Rosieben ~ hope you a feeling better
well been to Mr T this morning spent a little more than i was going to but i did need lightbulbs which were £2 and OH wanted baked beans was bogof so could not complain really.
I am coming in still under budget for this month which has surprised me as i thought with 5 at home 24/7 this month i would be going way over budget i normally do for august.
Things are looking so well i think i might try lowering the budget next month as i am doing better than i ever thought i would and now should be saving money as making my own bread and kids are not snacking on sweet things just fruit or HM things.Still TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

shell2001, I agree with Teedy, money spent in a situation like yours isnt wasted.
I realised a while ago that its no good getting my finances under control of its just going to make me stressed out whenever there's a glitch so I'm putting by a little each week in an 'extras' jar to help deal with things such as this.
Thanks for good wishes everyone, not quite back to normal yet, but getting there!
You all seem to be doing pretty good this month, and dealing with unforeseens very well :T... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
