Also, if I get a load of toiletries and pay with coupons, I sometimes sell them to buddies at work and buy my lunch with the money, so thats cheating isnt it.
I think is called "Being Businesslike. Does Alan Sugar know about you? :rotfl:

Rosieben, so glad your on the mend. You'll soon be feeling you're old self.

Went to local convenience store and spent £2.56. We had run out of broccoli, milk and filling for DS3's lunchtime sandwich. Bit annoyed cos DW had thown away the remains of the :spam: left over from Thursday's dinner. I'd wrapped it and left it in the fridge for her to use for sandwiches. I won't tell you what I said but it was .

    Hello,
I haven't posted much this month but I think I'm still on track. I've updated my sig based on what's left in the shopping purse but I've a feeling I owe myself about £10 for things I should really have got out of my own allowance (hair colouring, wrapping paper and a value handblender) It's just a palarva at the till paying out of two separate purses.

I found the bargain of all bargains (for me anyhow) too. I spend a lot on catfood generally but my local Mr T is selling off the 4 pouch Perfect Fit for 49p - I don't normally buy it but I think its about £2 usually. (The bigger packs aren't reduced though) Cat cupboard is groaning enough until the month end then it'll be back to not posh food I'm afraid!

I managed to feed visitors today with what was already in but I've some more next week end which'll need some canny juggling.

11 days 'til payday. Hard work isn't it!

    Keep going folks :T

Thanks everyone for the words of wisdom. I will not beat myself up as I say a lot of the misc spending came from the budget as in:-

DD lunch bag for school, 3 pairs of tights, 1 pair of PE daps. So at least if it came out the food budget its not gone on a credit card so am ahead of the game really. I will put a positive spin on this.

Just thought of a couple of more bits I need to add to tesco order so will rain piggy jar and pay extra into account to cover it, I will not go over budget!

I am looking to join in but not sure how it will work as i need to work from 18th aug - 17th sept. I also have not been too careful at what I am spending each month for the past several months so I am looking to take stock this month and start cutting down from next (family circumstances have overruled budgeting) as I need to cut down on the monthly outgoings.

Can I join and do part month to part month, if so from what i have been reading I need to keep all receipts this month and fix a total for next month?

H jjef and welcome to the challenge!

Yes, you can work your month as it best suits you, several regulars work mid-month to mid-month.

Its a good idea to keep your receipts for a few weeks beforehand, it will help you establish what your spend is now and give you an idea of what to aim for. Checking your receipts will also show where you can cut down! Its amazing how those little trips to the corner shop for milk can add up!

Good luck with the challenge and dont be afraid to ask if you have any more questions, there's always someone willing to help out. ;)

Edited to say, not sure how you post if you work mid-month to mid-month - maybe start on this one and them move to the next one in September? Can one of our mid-monthers help here please?

Mine used to be mid month, now closer to the end but does change. I started in August but mine started in July, latter of month was August. Start whenever you are ready jjef, doesn't matter as long as it helps you.

Shell with what you've had to deal with I am suprised you're not much more over budget, well done, you obviously manage those little crisis points better than me as I just throw in the towel :o. Few things I don't know if will help but might. Cheaper versions of calpol will save you money, either pharmacies or supermarkets own, I never buy the big brand stuff. Our pharmacy next to the GPs offers a no prescription service where you can go in, ask for meds for kids like pain relief and hayfever stuff for example, they call through to the surgery to ok it (check for allergies listed etc) and get a prescription later for it, saves me so much time and money, means I don't need to make an appointment with GP if they have a cold etc. Might be worth checking if yours has one the same. As for the treats I am sure your DD appreciates it. I'll join in with the razors moan, bloomin' gilette fusion! You'll be back on track in no time :) don't panic.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • I think I should well be within shopping budget this week and spend hardly anything, my food list is complied off all the stuff Im using from my freezer and cupboard.

So I'm seriously hoping for like under a tenner on essentials then thats it. Haha we shall see. I hate trying to scrimp and save before going on holiday!
