Hi Ellie
I wouldn't feel too bad about going over budget if you had a reason - I would think the unexpected guest for 2 weeks could make quite a difference!
If you think about it, thats 14 extra breakfasts, lunches and dinners:eek:
Good luck for this month anyway:DOfficial DFW Nerd - Member 408 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -

You did good ellie to come in just over, well done!
I'm over again already. Hit morrisons on sunday afternoon and the reduced section was loaded with cheese and meat well below 25% of marked price ie £1.89 reduced to 15p, so OH said fill your boots and I did.
Oh well, house guest this weekend and at least she will be fed properly. Thankfully the plum tree is finally coming good with free fruit and the beans and courgettes are paying dividends for all that back breaking work earlier in the season. What on earth happened to my tomatoes tho?
For those that need cheaper fruit, aren't the Jonagold apples lovely but why so much cheaper than all the others?AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I've finally decided I have to go to the shops tonight as I've got no milk left and only half meals (got the chicken but nothing to go with the pasta I'll have with it, stuff like that) so I'm going to go again today, I'm hoping though that the stuff should last me till the end of the month and that will mean I'll come in well under my £100 budget. Here's hoping.0

Another £3.59 spent here for potatos, apples and carrots.
But have enough fruit and veg now for rest of week i think.
Used up eggs and cheese for omelettes for dinner and threw in a few musrooms that were getting ready, im looking good for coming in under budget but need to write meal plans for next month as kids back at school which means 4 pack ups to do plus dh lunch. Lots of baking coming on i think!!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
well a complete failure this month. Started off well but because life has been so hectic I got my personal money and food budget lumped together. I still have plenty of food but no money so will have to dip into my own cash until end of month. Decided next time to take two weeks food money from bank at a time and hopefully this will be easier to keep track of spending. Having said that the budget was for £160 instead of the £200 + I used to spend. I have made a budget for my personal spending and intent to keep to this without fail, got lots of tips from 'guide to frugal living' and worked out how I can clear a credit card debt and still save. I need to do this as I will dip into grocery money otherwise. Good luck to everyone. I am pleased with my 'jam jar' savings at least.0

Irishwexford, doesn't sound like you have failed at all, at least you know where you are with your finances! and you have made a new plan to help you rather than just lost track of everything....I have spent a long time just ignoring statements etc. and spending willy nilly on my shopping so I am quite pleased with my spend at the moment, went out for a last minute holiday shop last night and stuck to my list! armed with my coupons to save on some toiletries I spent £29 and got loads...usually I would have been randomly picking up stuff - the only extras I got were some marked down organic milk to put in the freezer...
Thanks again for all the great tips and I look forward to trying to get more os next month....
