Oh dear, I hadn't realised just HOW often I pop into the local shop! :( Note to self, when move next time, move away from the main road! Haven't done much meal planning either yet. So plan for today includes auditing the freezer in the cellar, and meal planning. At least I already know we're having Mexican tonight (made too much mix the other day so no real cooking tonight whoopee!). Followed by raspberry and apple crumble, since I had to take the raspberrys out of the freezer to make room for the ice-cream we bought the other day (and have since eaten).

I'm not entirely sure where I am up to as my signature was deleted for being too long so I can't remember what I have spent this month so far!!
I think it was around £116 which isn't great.
I have been trying really hard to get the cost of my shopping down but I just can't do it :(

Hi folks, had to buy furniture polish and rolls, or baps, depending on where you live, so spent another wee bit but still doing well. DAWNYLOU, if you cant get it down anymore then you have reached your comfort level, dont worry about it, do you use money off coupons? this can help greatly, see the Discounts codes and vouchers thread for guidance. FBThree, this is my kind of cooking, usually shouting "oh my god I,d better cook that today" Not the best way but adds a bit of excitment to your routine, how sad is that!!!

Teedy - it's not comfortable though. We need to reduce an outgoing somewhere and the only thing that I thought we could cut down on was our shopping :(

Sorry - this is going to be a bit of a whine, but I've completely blown it. It all started to go wrong when I started getting a local veg box delivery and was compounded by DS' birthday when I sent DH to Tesco... and I've not been able to properly get back on track since.

I've half-heartedly planned meals but the random contents of the veg box means I'm never quite sure what I'll have to work with. Also, the quality of the fruit and veg hasn't been fabulous so I've not been able to use all of it. Add to this a massive dose of laziness and the result is that I've been far too quick to suggest take away, far too often. We've been out to eat a few times on the spur of the moment and it's my 40th later this month - all our budgets are taking a real beating. So now I'm fatter and we are broke.

We've just booked next year's holiday so I need to get back into the swing of planning and shopping, but for very healthy meals. I've cancelled the veg box and I'm going to seek out some threads with healthy recipes so that I can do some proper planning. It all seems a bit futile this late in the month - my new month starts on the 28th August, but I'll be calling in here for my daily dose of inspiration, so who knows!

    Sorry for the moan.

sorry DAWNYLOU, I,ve looked back your posts and you thought you were doing well in August, what went wrong? I,m getting into Tesco H&B and other mocs. I have done a car boot sale to prop myself up and so far have made it through a pretty tough time without resorting to credit card as I think that way leads to trouble. I,ve had lunch at work on my boots points and topped up my phone with these too, have another look at your spending there will be something you can do I hope. Good Luck
Curv , rant on sweatheart, thats what we,re here for, will be someone elses turn next, maybe me! You know you can get back on track but lifes for living and hope you,ve had a good blowout. last year All my friends and myself turned 50, thier children had a 30th, 2 21sts, 1 wedding 1 engagement and 2 christenings. I,m sure there was more than that, but I still survived (just) thats life

I just went through all my receipts as I had not been keeping track this month, and together with the huge shop we did at the start of this month, I've got £87.83 left to last the month. I almost panicked before I realised that as it's a 5 week month for me, we should be allowing £250 not £200 so that amount is adjusted accordingly (here I was thinking £37 to last 3 weeks!).

As we have bulk pasta, rice, cat food and such I think it is doable.
