Welcome to my ramblings!
Where abouts are you on the south coast? I love visiting my Dad's friends near Christchurch, such lovely coastline, and I really need to get back down to the Jurassic Coast after my visit there a few years ago.
It's so difficult to find people who want to do stuff like that isn't it - a friend of mine joined a running club and loved it but I just know that for me I'd hate having regimented times to meet and run, and having to match paces etc. I run mainly for the freedom to exersize where and when I want to.
I think you probably could do an obstacle race alone - I know one of the things T.M. make a big deal of is that it's not a race it's all about helping each other out but I suspect it'd be a rather lonely experience, my friends have been talking about trying to get a few of those who said they might be interested in to a team for London West next year - if we get it organised you'd be welcome to join us (running is optional so no worries there).
Sometimes I miss the TA, other times I remember all the less fun things like getting shouted at for running slowly (apparently the correct response isn't to start walking then burst in to tears - I always cry when I'm yelled at....), early mornings (I am *not* a morning person) and going to work on a Monday after a training weekend black and blue with blisters the size of my fist before I got my boots properly broken in (I'm told the new ones are much softer to begin with).
The only advice I can really give for getting times down is to run distances, get the stamina right then work on the speed, but for me the best thing was doing anything other than running - the more swimming I did the quicker my run times were because I wasn't constantly using the muscles to run so I gave myself a decent recovery time, not that my 1.5miler was ever much better than a skin of the teeth passing time.
I live in Worthing between Chichester & Brighton.
When is the 'race' next year, I might be interested
Getting to a running club is impossible as I work shifts so can't really do anything that requires a fixed date, the TA I would get time off for.Student nurse 2018 to 2020

Not an area I know, went to Bognor Regis a few weeks ago, am told its a lovely beach but not sure its somewhere I'll be going to back to too often without a good reason.
I'll check on the dates, I know they just announced the Scotland dates so London West ought to be known already as its usually the first one.
I know the fun of shift work makes life difficult for me too. I wanted to try to commit to training with the tri club based at the lake but as I havent even made it up to the lake this year I figure it's a bit late for that now! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Currently killing some time at work before the evening shift.
I've managed to finish a couple of surveys which have bumped me over the threshold with op.bar so should have £10 arriving in my bank in the next month or so.
Had a look at the work diary looks like there are a few quiet weeks over summer so I'm looking to see if I can take a week or two off to use some of my holiday and lieu time up. Might finally drag myself out to walk some of the local long distance footpath. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Have provisionally agreed a week off at the end of the month with my line manager, just need to double check the diary before we confirm it. Handily I've also booked three self employed jobs to be done that week so that's a day/afternoon out.
Also had a letter through the door today letting me know that our carpark and garage areas are going to be resurfaced so garages will be inaccessible and the car park closed for up to a week. Thats going to be fun since the parking is limited at this end of the road to begin with. Might see if I can arrange my shifts so I can leave my car at work and cycle/train in to work while the work's going on.
Also had notification from pact that my latest $10 payout has been sent. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Great London Swim smashed. :j
Did it in 39mins 57 seconds which is a good minute off my PB from last year and 4 mins quicker than anything else I've done this year even with virtually no training.
Now I have to start increasing my distance when pool swimming to get up to a comfortable 90 mins of constant swimming as that's my target time for the 2 mile swim at the Great Scottish.
Given the airshow traffic was horrid today I think I'm going to plan on cycling to work tomorrow.
I had a look at the cycle and running routes for the Brownlee Harewood House tri in September (my next multisport event), looks like its hillier than the Women Only event was so I need to work on my cycling and do more hilly routes, and the run is off road - which makes me happy - it'll be harder work but a more interesting route. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Busy few days at work, but I've managed to cash out again with one survey site £3 headed to paypal. £1 already recieved from qmee.
On the other side of the balance sheet we also have £112 on flights to Scotland for the Great Scottish swim (£140 trains, or an 8+ hour drive each way....).
Am currently weighing up the options regarding doing the Soul Cake Day run on Sept 1st. The medal is SirPTerry themed so I really really want that bit of bling. It's 4 mile laps (as many or as few as you want in 6 hours). The downside is it's a 2+ hour drive from home and almost a 90min drive from my friend in Kent so I'll need to find a bnb for the night before. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

As my work place is going to be quiet over summer I've just sent my CV off to a couple of local hotels looking for casual work, while it will mean I'm still doing hospitality work it'll help me get myself out there somewhere new and might throw up other options in the future. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I'm having to do that with my 6 hour race in November as it's not possible to get there and back in one day.

I honestly can't remember possibly bookmarked the thread then copied and pasted the link - I'm sure if that doesn't work there'll be instructions on the forum somewhere!
I have realised that I have a free night in my hotels.com account so as long as I can get the day off work and I can find somewhere that allows night redemptions I should be ok for affording accomodation.
Cycled to and from work today - I think cycling to work was a mistake, it was far too warm for the hills and I felt sweaty and uncomfortable for most of my shift, coming home wasnt too bad although it was getting a bit too dark for my liking by the time I was home. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
