With the quantity of hair I have a hollow space in my head would be a bonus! Swiming hats are becoming increasingly difficult to keep on while I'm swimming.
Legs are a bit sore, nothing unexpected which is why I planned to do some gentle exersize but as it did spend all afternoon and evening slinging it down I'm glad I didn't go out and get soaked. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Are you growing it for a reason?scubaangel wrote: »Legs are a bit sore, nothing unexpected which is why I planned to do some gentle exersize but as it did spend all afternoon and evening slinging it down I'm glad I didn't go out and get soaked.
I'm not sure I got that right - you didn't want to go to the baths because it was raining and you didn't want to get wet?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Is being too lazy to get around to finding a hairdresser a good reason?
Erm yes.....:o
I didn't cycle to the pool because I wanted to avoid the rain.
In something of a defense for this illogical bit of logic. Cleaning and drying myself is easy enough but drying off the bike is a little more time consuming and given that the rain was so bad the local airshow was closed early today due to flash floods (and part of my cycle route is alongside the temporary carparks) I'm going to claim it as an act of self preservation. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

You're just going to have to get a hair-dryer..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I don't use my hairdryer on my near waist length hair I'm not about to start using it on a bike! A couple of old towels is perfectly adequate for both tasks (albeit I must remember not to use the bike towels on my hair, washing it a second time to get chain oil out would be a pain). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Scubaangel I couldn't help reading all your different threads
I now live on the South Coast but come from the North (well Midlands really). I used to be really independent but now I hate doing things alone or trying something new, I don't have anyone who is into running so I do do that alone though I haven't done an obstacle race yet as I need a team
I'm trying to get into the Reserves but my run time is terrible and I used to dive but it cost too much to do so at present.
I also have a hatred for kids  It's not that I just don't want any.
I will now go and subscribed to this thread.Student nurse 2018 to 2020

Hi hign10pines,
Welcome to my ramblings!
Where abouts are you on the south coast? I love visiting my Dad's friends near Christchurch, such lovely coastline, and I really need to get back down to the Jurassic Coast after my visit there a few years ago.
It's so difficult to find people who want to do stuff like that isn't it - a friend of mine joined a running club and loved it but I just know that for me I'd hate having regimented times to meet and run, and having to match paces etc. I run mainly for the freedom to exersize where and when I want to.
I think you probably could do an obstacle race alone - I know one of the things T.M. make a big deal of is that it's not a race it's all about helping each other out but I suspect it'd be a rather lonely experience, my friends have been talking about trying to get a few of those who said they might be interested in to a team for London West next year - if we get it organised you'd be welcome to join us (running is optional so no worries there).
Sometimes I miss the TA, other times I remember all the less fun things like getting shouted at for running slowly (apparently the correct response isn't to start walking then burst in to tears - I always cry when I'm yelled at....), early mornings (I am *not* a morning person) and going to work on a Monday after a training weekend black and blue with blisters the size of my fist before I got my boots properly broken in (I'm told the new ones are much softer to begin with).
The only advice I can really give for getting times down is to run distances, get the stamina right then work on the speed, but for me the best thing was doing anything other than running - the more swimming I did the quicker my run times were because I wasn't constantly using the muscles to run so I gave myself a decent recovery time, not that my 1.5miler was ever much better than a skin of the teeth passing time. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

It was last cut to shoulder blade length August last year. So pretty quickly.
Pamper it? A few days ago I would have happily trashed it. I so badly do not enjoy cycling unless it has a purpose - going to the shop I can deal with, just going out for a ride I cannot.
But it's something I need to do more of, find my self cycle routes which will take me about an hour/90 mins and go ride them, put the bike away and go for a run afterwards to get my body more used to that sort of torture. As once again the utter lack of feeling in my legs and feet was a fairly major hinderance in the run section of my tri, although marginally preferable to the second lap of the run which just hurt because I'd got the feeling back in my legs and feet by then.
I just remember on that lap looking at other people running with proper strides while I felt like I was taking steps like Granny without her walker playing fairy steps. :cool:It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

They're fine with the right seasoning. Have you tried garlic?scubaangel wrote: »Sometimes I miss the TA, other times I remember all the less fun things like getting shouted at for running slowly (apparently the correct response isn't to start walking then burst in to tears - I always cry when I'm yelled at....), early mornings (I am *not* a morning person)
That was one of the reasons I gave many years ago: "Why would I join the Army to be woken up at some early hour of the morning by idiots shouting at me, when I can stay at home and be woken at some early hour of the afternoon by idiots shouting at me."
You may perceive that I'm not army material... :rotfl:scubaangel wrote: »and going to work on a Monday after a training weekend black and blue with blisters the size of my fist before I got my boots properly broken in (I'm told the new ones are much softer to begin with).
They made them softer because of the rise of the "Trainer Generation" whereas most people joining in the past were Clarks wearers.scubaangel wrote: »It was last cut to shoulder blade length August last year. So pretty quickly.
Very quickly!scubaangel wrote: »Pamper it? A few days ago I would have happily trashed it. I so badly do not enjoy cycling unless it has a purpose - going to the shop I can deal with, just going out for a ride I cannot.
It depends on where you're going. If the bike ride is the end, in-and-of-itself, then it's not good. But it's good for getting to nice views quickly.
Assuming you like nice views.scubaangel wrote: »But it's something I need to do more of, find my self cycle routes which will take me about an hour/90 mins and go ride them, put the bike away and go for a run afterwards to get my body more used to that sort of torture. Never look at other people. They are hiding the pain just as much as you, except you can feel your pain.
They were probably looking at you and wondering how you were running so well..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
