    Busy few days at work

You as well? Any particular reason why?

On the other side of the balance sheet we also have £112 on flights to Scotland for the Great Scottish swim (£140 trains, or an 8+ hour drive each way....).

If you book them *way* in advance, you can get tickets cheaper than that. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, when I was travelling to the South East fairly regularly, I used to know all the tricks to get the cheapest possible. Usually about £50 to get there and back.

Am currently weighing up the options regarding doing the Soul Cake Day run on Sept 1st. The medal is SirPTerry themed so I really really want that bit of bling. It's 4 mile laps (as many or as few as you want in 6 hours). The downside is it's a 2+ hour drive from home and almost a 90min drive from my friend in Kent so I'll need to find a bnb for the night before.

It's probably too late for a cheap travelodge - but you could go for a looksee.

As my work place is going to be quiet over summer I've just sent my CV off to a couple of local hotels looking for casual work, while it will mean I'm still doing hospitality work it'll help me get myself out there somewhere new and might throw up other options in the future.

    Good luck!

Cycled to and from work today - I think cycling to work was a mistake, it was far too warm for the hills and I felt sweaty and uncomfortable for most of my shift,

Are there no showers at work?

It has been uncomfortably hot and still everywhere I feel - I've had about 6hrs sleep spread over the past 2 days...

Just a few meetings/small conference type bookings and I had one team member off on holiday, nothing over taxing just a nice happy level of busy. :)

Booking way in advance would have worked a couple of months ago but I didn't have the money then as I was paying for the travel and event fees for stuff nearer the time.

I need to find out if I've got the day off before I can book anything, won't have that authorised until likely next week now -have asked them to call me to let me know either way as my holiday request for next week has been authorised.

We have showers but I was already 10 minutes late as it took me longer than I expected to cycle in - mainly due to having to come to a standstill on what should have been the run up to a fairly long steep hill I can normally just about get up in the lowest gear. Sadly car drivers seem to forget to look before pulling out of a certain junction - I know I've done it before. Having to walk up the hill (totally unshaded) left me knackered and uncomfortable as well as late! I'm not sure I would have been able to jump in a shower at work as we had guests arriving in the evening so I'd have had to clean it down completely as well making me even later for my shift!

I feel pretty similar, my misfit suggests I have been sleeping fairly normally but I don't feel it.

At least we've had some rain down here this evening, there were a few spots in the air when I was riding home, but it didn't rain properly until about midnight.

Had a phone call today from one of the hotels, I have a trial shift or two at the end of next week, will get an email tomorrow sometime with the shift schedule.

That mess of an attempt to quote a quote is from the sticky at the top of the forum - hopefully it'll work! Otherwise I'm clueless

    Quote:
    {URL="https://www.mydebtfreediary.com"}My debt free diary{/URL}

Replace all { and } with [ and ] (I had to use a different bracket otherwise the code would 'work' and you wouldn't see what to type!)

Replace www.mydebtfreediary.com with the link to your thread (keeping the quotation marks)

Replace My debt free diary with whatever text you want to be shown in the signature to be clicked on.

End result in preview/saved mode should look like this:

As if we didn't already know how under valued our dept actually is. A basic admin job is currently being advertised for a salary £1k less than mine for the same number of hours per week. The temptation to apply for it is huge - I could easily make up the difference by working 12 hours a month on minimum wage (y'know maybe one shift a week at the hotel which would be 12 hours a month, or even exceed my current salary by agreeing to do say an 8 hour shift on a set day at the weekend every week....)

Go for it. No management responsibilities, or worrying about rotas, and the ability to be able to plan time off should save you the difference in wages easily.

I'm off work now until next week so will talk it over with my friend who got me the job in the first place. The logic is good, just not sure if I can go back to an admin job - on the other hand its a step back in to that type of work which could make it easier to move on completely in a year or so.

I suspect if I did go for it, and was fortunate enough to get it I could get my remaining time owed paid to me which would cover 3+months of salary difference (given my current job is at the slightly higher hourly rate). And I'd get get back the holiday time currently booked at weekends. At the very least it might finally make the management team listen when I say we need more help and less hassle - I know they'd not give me a payrise nice as it would be it wouldn't solve the other issues.

It should do. It's not like admin work will go out of fashion.

Or they may just say "We're surprised you stuck it out this long."

I suspect there will be an element of that Z, but it won't be their failings that are the reason they're surprised.

Currently trying to get organised for the trip to the coast, have made contact with a tri club and arranged to swim with them tomorrow evening, my friend reckons it'll be easy to get to where thy meet from her parents house in plenty of time. So my wetsuit, cossie, goggles and a couple of swimming hats are in the bag. Beyond that I have no idea what to pack.

Downloaded pokemon go a couple of days ago, have come to the conclusion that I must be old as it makes no sense to me and I simply don't seem to be able to get addicted like the rest of the world!

I think a lots of it is to do with whether you played the original Pokemon games, or even understand the concepts behind them. They were turn-based "combat" games, which had a smattering of Japlish behind them which turned into standard jokes. I never played them, I'm a first-person shooter gamer myself.
