Mum has put herself back on facebook which means I am now getting a steady stream of links she thinks I might be interested in - including this one
    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-49620287.html

Its within a few miles of my new house and costs the same monthly rent! I can't believe how small it looks.

It looks small, because it is small. Take a look at picture 5 - the living room. Look at the door - white plastic door with a window either side. Now take a look at this picture. Similarly a white plastic door with a window either side.

Except behind that door isn't the living room. It's the hallway...

Yup, I'm sure the person living there now just loves pretty much sitting in their TV. Does make me even more certain that although it's expensive I've actually got a good deal on my place, same village, same rent, bigger, slightly more remote from the village shops but similar distance to the pubs (y'know the really important village shop), better energy efficiency rating etc.

It gives that immersive experience. And a good 3D TV will make it look like all the action is happening behind you...

It would be difficult to find a poorer house than that one. Perhaps one which already has a rabbit living in it perhaps.

Does your mother not know what to look for in a house, or was it sent in a "You'll end up here if you're not careful" kind of way?

    I suspect the latter.

Although some of the other rubbish she's posted to my wall makes me wonder if she hasn't just lost her few remaining marbles entirely (or finished the bottle of berry gin she was given the other day).

Dunno my step dad doesnt like us drinking in the house and hes been home all evening - typically if shes drinking to wind him up I have an invite to the party.

I'm sure I'll find out tomorrow at some point.

While having a chat with a friend at silly am this morning I discovered that the forest near my new house offers an annual membership which gets you free car parking and discounts at their cafe and outdoor activity shop (as well as a discount at the Go Ape which will never be used since I'm useless with anything vaguely resembling heights), but at a cost of £45 per year it would mean that I would need to park for an hour 30 times in a year to make it cost effective - given it seems to be the flattest area locally to run it may well be a good idea to use some of my Christmas money for the membership.

If I do I'll then try to get in to the habit of putting to one side the equivalent of the parking cost towards the next annual membership and once that's covered pay it off one of the credit cards.

I've also calculated that either January or February my sofa is fully paid off, so that'll give me £27/month not leaving my account so will attempt to allocate it as an extra payment to the credit cards.

Todays tidying/packing/decluttering has lead to another bag of paperwork being deposited next to the shredder, two bags in directly in to the recycling bin which is now about as full as it can be.

Packing the unread book pile has reduced it by one book as at some point I've ended up with two copies of The Kingmakers Daughter, so will drop the second copy off at Mum's house when she's home from the pub later (quick pint before dinner according to my step dad....I predict closing time and they'll come home via the chippy).

For some reason, having a membership of a forest strikes me as a strange concept.

Wouldn't "Going Ape" a little bit more often give you practice at being good at heights?

Remember: it's not what you fall off that's the problem. It's what you land on.

    Sounds like a plan.

I've just bagged up my paperwork to be sorted. It almost exactly fills one of those IKEA "trunks" - 76 litres worth...

Have you stood in it and jumped up and down?

These people - no dedication... ;)

Have you compiled a list of New Year's resolutions?
