Well the van is packed. Looks like a huge quantity of stuff, but I have to remember that the boxes of assorted media items are going to be unpacked on to the bookcases which haven't been flat packed.
Fingers crossed the bed pieces fit up the stairs! Or I'll be sleeping on the sofa/inflatable mattress a bit longer. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

You'll know whether it's huge or not by how knackered you are at the end of it.scubaangel wrote: »Fingers crossed the bed pieces fit up the stairs! Or I'll be sleeping on the sofa/inflatable mattress a bit longer.
Take rope for the bed.
You can haul it up and in through a window."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

We jumped up and down on it on Boxing Day when I put serveral other bags in and it was getting too full.
Depends how often I want to spend money to feel dizzy and nauseous and freeze up so much that they have to send someone to get me. So no I think I'll give Go Ape a miss for now.

I get that when I go shopping in the Sales.scubaangel wrote: »So no I think I'll give Go Ape a miss for now.

You?
Well "Stay employed" is a good one, and one I'll certainly be needing in a couple of years' time if things don't improve.
My resolutions are (currently):- Buy a house and move
- Learn to ride a bike (or more strictly, get a license for it)
- Take up some kind of outdoor activity.
- Get a haircut.
I've already got a haircut, so I can cross that one off. However, I may add:
"Become one with the art of the innuendo and slip it in whenever possible."
That sounds like a plan to me...;)"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Hope you're enjoying the New Year.
Move went well, a couple of small issues, like my Mum packing my dining table in to the van - I'd asked them to leave it as there's no space in the house for it (not strictly true but its in an incredibly annoying place until I can get rid of it), and one of the small connecting bolts for a bookcase got lost so that's still in pieces until I can find a replacement.
I think I also want to buy a couple more shelf units, one for the living room so I can move the music system off the wall I share with my shift working neighbour - he's said he can hear it but its not too loud but I'd prefer to keep any annoyance to a minimum. I also want another kallax unit for upstairs, one would have fit on the narrow bit of my bedroom over the stairs and will be useful for storing the odd things which currently live in my bedside tables like DIY stuff. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

First time I've heard something the size of a dining table described as "a small issue"...scubaangel wrote: »- I'd asked them to leave it as there's no space in the house for it (not strictly true but its in an incredibly annoying place until I can get rid of it),
Does it not dismantle?scubaangel wrote: »and one of the small connecting bolts for a bookcase got lost so that's still in pieces until I can find a replacement.
If it's IKEA - surely you have 80 million spare bits and bobs?
Or is that only me?scubaangel wrote: »I think I also want to buy a couple more shelf units, one for the living room so I can move the music system off the wall I share with my shift working neighbour - he's said he can hear it but its not too loud but I'd prefer to keep any annoyance to a minimum.
Always wise. What about headphones?scubaangel wrote: »I also want another kallax unit for upstairs, one would have fit on the narrow bit of my bedroom over the stairs and will be useful for storing the odd things which currently live in my bedside tables like DIY stuff.
Is there nowhere more appropriate to store DIY stuff other than your bedroom? I take it this is circular saws and stuff?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Really annoyingly the bookcase with the missing bit isn't Ikea and the shop it is from looked at me like I was nuts when I asked if they sold/were able to source a replacement.
It's a small table, it would dismantle but I want to photograph it to see if I can get it sold before I do that.
Headphones don't work when I'm wandering around the house listening while I shift stuff to more logical homes..
It's small stuff, but not really got anywhere else, at the moment and I thought it would make sense to make use of the space. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

That's what happens when you inquire about bolts...scubaangel wrote: »when I asked if they sold/were able to source a replacement.
If it is a standard bolt, then you may be able to get a replacement elsewhere. Aldi sell a selection set from time to time.scubaangel wrote: »It's a small table, it would dismantle but I want to photograph it to see if I can get it sold before I do that.
Well, that's a good job for the weekend.scubaangel wrote: »Headphones don't work when I'm wandering around the house listening while I shift stuff to more logical homes..
Depends on the headphones. I bought my Dad a wireless set a few years ago, and he wanders all over the house and into the garage with them on. They also (apparently) work 2 doors up, but I didn't ask at that point..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Now I have internet access I plan to see if I can find one but my mum has said she'll go out to the garage to see if the missing one has fallen out of the bag there.
Not sure I'm keen on wearing headphones all the time when it would be easier for me to just move the stereo and not turn it up so loud - which once moved it wouldnt need to be as loud as it would be next to the staircase. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Spent £16 in sainsbugs on my way home from work, should mean I've enough in the cupboards to only need some fresh veggies later in the week when I've used up the ones I already have and there are quite a few things which need taking out of their packaging and wrapping individually to be frozen (bagels and chicken breasts which were reduced).
Feel like everytime I go near a shop I'm spending a small fortune but then I'm still picking up things like spices and tins and jars for the store cupboard and I should have enough in there soon to start being able to actually use said stored items to create reasonably sensible meals. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
