I think I'd prefer weekends to be somewhat longer. Less recovery and more time.scubaangel wrote: »Not yet, looking at a few days mid April but work haven't confirmed the time off yet for me. If I don't get away then I'll prehaps look at something later in the year maybe a dive trip to somewhere like the Red Sea if I can save the money towards it while reducing the debt.
Diving in the Red Sea does sound a lot better than exploring some ex-quarry in the Midlands... :rotfl:"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Yup just a touch.

At least these days you have half-sane shift patterns.scubaangel wrote: »Mystery shop written up.

Hmm half sane just about covers it.
I'm so not looking forward to 5 days of 9 and 10 hour afternoon/evening shifts this week - esp as I predict a battle with one of my staff as they don't want to work the 9-5 shift, they'd prefer to go home at 3...... which is fine when the place is quiet, this week its not - don't get me wrong they're on a 25 hour contract but they owe 12 hours already this year as we've been quiet so you'd have thought they'd want to work extra to make it back up.
The upside to these shifts is that I only need to have breakfast at home so don't need to do too much shopping this week - just fresh milk I expect as I have porridge sachets in the cupboard, and bagels in the freezer - might need some more soft cheese for those by the end of the week. The other option is getting in to work an hour early and raiding the left over fresh croissants before they get stored to be reused as a bread and butter pudding.
I'd not call it 'more' productivity, more finishing the half finished task from earlier.
What was productive was sorting through a pile of paper work (yup been in the house under 2 months and already I have piles of paper work) and weeding out the stuff I can bin - it's in the recycling box in the porch area. I might remember to take it out at some point this week before the box gets too full. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

In what way do they "owe"? Is this like flexi?scubaangel wrote: »I'd not call it 'more' productivity, more finishing the half finished task from earlier.
You're producing stuff, therefore it is productivity. Finishing a job is productive.scubaangel wrote: »What was productive was sorting through a pile of paper work (yup been in the house under 2 months and already I have piles of paper work) and weeding out the stuff I can bin - it's in the recycling box in the porch area. I have a shredder next to the door. Some mail makes it off the door mat to drop straight into the shredder..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

We operate a TOIL system as some weeks we're busy (like this week) and otherwise wouldn't have enough staff contracted for the hours while some weeks we're really quiet and there just aren't the hours available. We keep a weekly record of what hours we've worked compared to our contract. As we've been quiet in January I'm -10 hours and they're -12, so you'd think in a busy week they'd want to work over their contract hours to equalise it somewhat!
I don't have a shredder, I should probably get one eventually.
Decided today that I really do want to go away for a week in April so have put in a holiday request. Or at least I've written it out, noones entirely sure who I'm meant to report to. The job role was changed before I started so the reporting chain was amended but noone can remember what it was amended to.It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Given that they've been paid for hours they haven't worked, they probably view working it back up as working for nothing.scubaangel wrote: »I don't have a shredder, I should probably get one eventually.
Depending on how much spam you get, it may be worth investing in an office one. I've burned through 2 domestic shredders, but this one is still going strong.scubaangel wrote: »Decided today that I really do want to go away for a week in April so have put in a holiday request. So long as you've shown it to the most likely suspects, that should be good enough. Off to the Red Sea?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

It's a system they've always had in place so my feeling is its a case of trying it on with the new supervisor.
No I think in April I'll see if I can get out to the Canaries, the week I've asked for is over my birthday so I'll hopefully be spending a week drinking myself in to the gutter and sunbathing at the apartment to celebrateIt’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Well this year is certainly different from the last.scubaangel wrote: »so I'll hopefully be spending a week drinking myself in to the gutter and sunbathing at the apartment to celebrate

OK so drinking to celebrate and sunbathing to recover. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
