£22.03 in A!di and £15.18 in Morry's this morning. This takes us up to £158.41 so far.
Have been good at using things out of the freezer most of the month as well. Plenty still in there though and fridge is stocked up now.
Was looking at the cauliflowers but they were so small and maky looking for £1.19 that I brought a bag of frozen instead. I know that people say frozen veg is cheaper but have hardly ever brought it before (except peas & sweet corn) so will see when we use some of it.
When I checked A!di receipt noticed they had only charged me for one bottle of milk (6 pints) yet I brought two of them so gained £1.30 :)
Weather permitting tomorrow should be taking Mum to Te$co but unless there are some really good offers I wont be spending anything . . . (fingers crossed)
Hope everyone is safe and warm with the snow about - Grandsons school was shut at lunch time due to the weather - cant say he is upset about it though :p

Have to say that it involved a lot of eating out of the freezer so February will be more of a challenge. I have kept a total of my A*di shop v. My usual Mr T, the £64.81 worth of goods would have cost £96.82 in Mr T:eek:

Shamefully I have also stopped buying newspapers, what is the point? I can read them online for nothing, I used to buy 2 dailies, 2 Sunday, and a couple of weekly local papers, not bought any and have saved a shocking £47.10 there too.

Thanks to all for posting, your posts really helped keep me on track, see you all in February!

  • Yesterday spent £13.15 in Sains**** so will adjust total.

Will also includes today's spend of £7.60 and then hopefully not much else to be bought this month.

I can see that our main spends are on entertainment and petrol but it's still useful keeping an eye on the food budget and not letting it get too out of hand. I guess the people on really low spends are finding lots of YS products, not something that seems to happen when I go shopping!

I banned OH from shopping with me. Mostly.
I feel like I've learned a very big thing indeed.
Well done to you and all the others declaring under or around their target. I think it's hard when you first start on this challenge and January seems such a long unforgiving month :T

I think it's funny how many moan about their DH shopping with them. I think it takes a long time to get some of them on board. I find that if it's not on my list and/or I wouldn't have bought it myself, if I just say to him 'Well you can buy it if you really want it' usually works :rotfl:

Managed another NSD - best way for me to save money is NO SHOPPING ! :)

Hope you all staying warm and dry with all the snow etc

That's me finished for the month. I'm still working my way through the chest freezer but my DH did say he could see the bottom now so getting there. MrT had some nice wine reduced with extra points so I stocked up on a few that will see us through February. Should still get another 15 or so dinners out the freezer just buying YS fruit and veg.

My final spend of the month took me to £197.03. That is all food and loads of toiletries and cleaning stuff even next year's Christmas cards and wrapping paper. It also included a meal out for dinner and coffee and a scone once a week with friends. Got a voucher from Envirofone for 5 old phones and they give you 7% extra if you take a voucher instead of cash so that will be my freezer filled for February with my M&S voucher.

  • Declaring for the month, don't officially finish till Saturday but done the shopping tonight so won't be spending anymore.

I did it tonight to use my second £5 aldi voucher, spent 42.91 altogether, also need to declare an extra 4.80 spent on lunches for work, which I said I wouldn't do but was unprepared a couple of days. One thing I am proud of is that we have had no takeaways this year :rotfl: this used to be my weakness, but all that has changed now, kids don't miss out as my parents take them for tea once a week whether to mcd's, chip shop, something like that, and me and hubby have soup that night. It is saving us money and helping with my weight loss :)

Final total for the month £250.85 out of £300. :T

    Hi all,

I had a minor tiz at DS2 (16) as he,s been moaning about dinners, now I cook from scratch most days, and if its something he genuinly doesn,t like, then I will sub it with something else, ie we had fish pie, he doesn,t like wet fish, so I gave him a HM shep pie from the freezer, however, he said I don,t cook 'proper' food like his friends have, when I asked him to explain, he said thinks like burger and chips, pizza etc - I will teach him to cook a HM pizza, that should be a compromise, but today he took for lunch, HM soup, HM bread roll with HM butter - why can we never win with kids?? ;)
I know what you mean. My 3 all like different things and sometimes it felt like I was running a cafe but as they've got older it's not quite as bad. :)

I made the pasta sauce out of cooked haggis (broken up), onion, garlic, chopped tomatoes, mushrooms and dried oregano. Served with spaghetti and the last bit of my YS Parmesan. :)
I will definitely try that DS2 and DH love haggis so worth a try. Thanks :)

£10.46 spend today and that will be my last of the month so I am declaring £364.02/£370 so just squeezed in under budget :):)
