Declaration time: £103.83 out of my budget of £175.

    I'm over the moon! :j:money:

I spent £5.90 this week, instead of the fiver I intended, but hey ho.

I can't believe we've done so well. And what we have eaten has been healthy, varied and yummy!

    A few things really helped:
    • we bought a big sack of potatoes and one of onions in December for £8, and we're still ploughing through those. some of the spuds are probably good for planting in their own right now... mmm.... idea!
    • Waitrose had a half-price sales of stuff just when we really needed to stock up on those things.
    • I had a good go at using up leftovers to maximize efficiency: extra mash went into potato cakes and gnocchi. Extra haggis went into pasta sauce (oh my life, that is lush!)
    • Not drinking meant I never wanted to buy high-carb snacks from the train station to perk myself up in the mornings.
    • I banned OH from shopping with me. Mostly. Once a market trader has caught his attention, he feels bad about not buying from them, and tends to dash round a supermarket seeing things he wants right now, rather than needs or can plan a meal round.
I've been doing this challenge for a few months now, but it's taken this long to properly crack it. I feel like I've learned a very big thing indeed.

    Yay us!:T

    £213.43/£300 (£86.57) - NSD 11/31 - Lost track!! :o

I needed a few things and almost submitted an online shop... I noticed that when doing the online shop, I have become guilty of adding things on since it is being delivered (I live in a top floor flat and hate carrying my shopping home!) When I had added on all the things I wanted and needed, it was almost £90!!

When I went to Ald!, I actually spent less than £19 on the things I actually needed! I will have to buy some of the other items at a later date obviously, but my hoarding tendencies definitely kick in more, when I am not faced with having to carry it home myself... :o

    Have a good day all!

Well done, I started in January, and it took a few weeks to get in to the swing of things.
I was brought up not to be wasteful, and actually I prefer it, when I was wasteful I did give a little mental telling off!
When I was flush for a few years, I was wasteful, throwing away food, terrible really.

    Hi all,

Spent £14 in Ald! today, pretty basic stuff, bread, milk etc

I still have a freezer full of meat from my first Waitr@se shop, so even though I will start my Feb GC having 'spent' £45 (split the delivery between 2 months GC), I don,t think I,ll need to buy alot during Feb.

I had a minor tiz at DS2 (16) as he,s been moaning about dinners, now I cook from scratch most days, and if its something he genuinly doesn,t like, then I will sub it with something else, ie we had fish pie, he doesn,t like wet fish, so I gave him a HM shep pie from the freezer, however, he said I don,t cook 'proper' food like his friends have, when I asked him to explain, he said thinks like burger and chips, pizza etc - I will teach him to cook a HM pizza, that should be a compromise, but today he took for lunch, HM soup, HM bread roll with HM butter - why can we never win with kids?? ;)
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130

I made the pasta sauce out of cooked haggis (broken up), onion, garlic, chopped tomatoes, mushrooms and dried oregano. Served with spaghetti and the last bit of my YS Parmesan. :)
