Oh no, really sorry to hear that! Very poignant, and you've hit the nail on the head - life is short, we sometimes don't realise that. I hope you're ok, obviously you'll get as much support on here as we can offer.:grouphug:

Thanks Pablosammy. Unfortunately my friend died yesterday and it was a shock. He was only young and it seems unreal as I was only chatting to him the night before.

I am making it my mission to honour him by making sure I live my life to the full and not wasting it. I am paying these debts off as fast as humanly possible and using the freedom to live my dreams. No more coasting through life :A

    Sorry, that's probably a bit heavy considering I'm a newbie :o

On a bit more of a postive note, I went for a walk today to clear my head and it was gorgeous. What a beautiful day. I have also cleared out the store room and have photographed some stuff to go on Ebay. I may not be able to clear all my debt this year but I'm going to give it a damned good try! xxx

It's really hard to turn negative events into positive encouragement, so good for you.

It was beautiful today, wasn't it! Where in Lancashire are you? I went to Leighton Moss this morning and all the reeds were crystallised with frost, it was absolutely stunning. Cold, though!

    108 here.

Sorry to read about the rough times folk are going through. I had a really horrible year last year and it's continued into this year. I'm just hoping it's all going to get better soon. You have to take the small positives when you can but it ain't half hard at times!

Decided to tinker with the bank accounts this evening and paid some more. Have now paid £1439.31/£9139.48.

so went through all our finances last night, its not too pretty but at least my guess of £13,000 was about right (meaning that I am aware of our debt!) The actual figure is £13,342.62
    This breaks down as:
    £708 uni fees (0%)
    £2776.26 n/w cc (18%)
    £3578.36 b cc (0%)
    £150 to SIL (0%)
£5400 to dad for car loan (0%)
    £330 o/d (me) (20%)
    £400 o/d DH (18%)
When DH gets paid in 3 weeks time his O/D should be down to £260, I have made one payment for my uni course (£236) so only 2 payments left (I have to pay this off as its course fees, rather than student loan) and we have paid £100 off each cc. Going to look at moving £500 off one credit card onto the 0% one so this should help. (£33 lost in interest last month!)
So with the payments made I am down to £12.766.62. Paid off £576
    A bit better!
    mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊

Would I be able to join this challenge still please?

    I've got a total debt of £4452.28
    Made up of:
    Old student overdraft - £1792.61
Old student credit card - £478.33
    Credit card - £2181.34

I have no savings :( which is something I want to rectify but only after tackling this debt (although if I can put a little amount aside for emergencies, that would also be good!).

    So I'm ready to be a debt-free wannabe! :j

A refund from my old energy supplier of £156.90 arrived today, and was immediately sent towards the credit card before it could be spent on anything else!

That's my first overpayment since starting this years challenge, so I am now standing at

    £156.90/£14605.27

Hoping to have a payment to make later today. Got something to return - its a book of patterned card, cost around £15 but I didn't end up using it. Hoping they'll let me return it - although the 'seal' is broken (but it was when I purchased it too as people break it to look at the patterns within the book!).

Also found a Virgin Media cheque for £22 from when we cancelled a couple of years ago and had overpaid. I couldn't cash it as it was too late (oops). Thinking its worth ringing them to see if they can locate the cheque and resend with a more current date so we can actually cash it!

Got some old University textbooks to sell too. Have submitted them on a website that buys them for fairly reasonable prices a few times but never actually sent them - so lazy! So must get that sorted too.

Have listed a baby item on eBay that we aren't using also so hopefully some dosh to come in from that at the weekend!

Want to get debt to £3550 at least before January payday!
