Hey peeps
I'm having a bad day and just needed somewhere safe to pour my woes out. If anyone will understand it's you guys, some of you are probably feeling exactly the same way I am this morning.
Firstly I know it's self inflicted and our fault. We are still 'fighting fires' in our new house with lots of expensive problems to fix, however I am incredibly grateful to have this house. It's just that all the problems haven't help with the finances. We've had money to cover most things but at the cost of not being able to pay off more debt. And I know we are going on the worlds most expensive holiday  (okay slight exaggeration), and that has put a lot of pressure on, which we knew when we decided to book it, but it will be worth it.
I don't expect sympathy from 'the real world' but I'd sure appreciate a, we've been there, you will get through it from you guys.
I feel like I'm a pressure cooker and if one more thing goes wrong it's all going to explode in a horrible mess! I'm just trying to keep on top of things and be proactive in the hope that I can try to improve things, even if it's only marginally.
I guess I'm having a 'what a loser', 'how have you ended up like this again' kind of day.:wall: I swear once this year is over, I am going to spend the next few years busting my debt and I am not going to let anyone convince me to put anything on a credit card again....I just need to get through this expensive year.

Personally I don't do minimum payments because mostly that doesn't make any impact on the overall debt just covers the interest and a bit. And it's difficult to keep tabs on, as it reduces every month much easier to ignore it and then readjust your total every 4 months or so. You want to make this as simple for yourself as possible or if you're like me you end up getting bogged down in numbers.:j
Oh yes, I like simple!
When I say min payments I'm referring to what my D/D is set up for, in most cases this is nearly double what the CC min payment is. I suppose it's the minimum to me if that makes sense. I have a next account which obviously charges interest but the majority of my debt is on interest free.0 -

I've spent too much time thinking that the new set of wheels I'm buying is a fantastic deal, when in actual fact I'm losing thousands by not buying a cheaper 2nd hand car. I'm just a hook, line and sinker consumer slave :rotfl:
I bought this one on the passport deal from Peugeot for my daughters 17th birthday present (I do excessive gifts hence the debt). It was such a con as when I went to hand it back in December, they wanted almost 1500 for excess mileage. Ended up keeping the car and going to pay the £3800. Never again!#171

Hey Mossy....Just wanted to Reply to your Post....
You WILL get through this....I had a Year in 2013 where everything just got on top of me, there was LOADS of stuff going on and it felt exactly like you said, like if one more thing happened then I was going to explode...
But I DID get through it...one day at a time...and you will too...Don't think about next Year, next Month or even next Week...just think about what you are going to do today....and then you can tackle tomorrow tomorrow!!
Stick with it hun....You have your WONDERFUL Holiday to look forward to (did I read somewhere that you are going down under with your Family??)....And that will be wonderful....But in the meantime just take some deep breaths and focus on today for now....
Hope that helps a little....0 -

You will get through this and you will have a fabulous holiday too. Holidays are my vice and the reason I am still in Debt.I see that youre off to Disney in August. We've just come back & it can be expensive, but there are loads of tips on here and other sites to keep costs down while you are there. Ones we use are:
You will need to drink loads! Use the water fountains in the parks rather than buying drinks - they are on every corner! We refil water bottles at the fountains. If your kids won't drink water, take one of those squeezy squash things to add flavour. Soda can cost $4.
You can ask for a cup of free iced water at any food location. Its not advertised but they don't bat an eyelid when you ask.
Take snacks into the parks - picnics are allowed. I think they do draw the line at wheeled hampers tho :rotfl:
Share meals at the counter service food places. The portion sizes are HUGE. DH & I always share & it halves the cost of a meal.
Use your fridge at your hotel/villa for leftovers. We've often taken uneaten dessert back to the hotel for breakfast the next daymmm cheesecake for breakfast ......
Buffets can be good value in the parks - especially the ones where you meet the characters. It saves you queuing for hours in the heat to get an autograph as they come round to each table. Breakfast buffets are cheaper & if you book an 11am timeslot it, you could skip lunch
Eating off parks is MUCH cheaper. Lots of hotels have voucher booklets for money off at restaurants. Research places and prices before you go.

Hey mossy, don't beat yourself up. We all get like that sometimes and you will definitely beat it! Xx0

My vice is holidays too. That's probably the sole reason I'm in debt. Yet it's an addiction I'm struggling to break. Already have loads of short breaks booked this year as well as Rhodes in September. Oh, and I'm now looking to take my daughter to NYC in December for my 40th and her 21st. Having said that, I balked when I saw how much debt I've accumulated and it's scared me. That's why I'm loving this forum. We're here to help and support each other on good / bad days as we're all in the same boat. Sending hugs Mossy.#171

Hi All.
Mossy - I think we all have times when we feel like that, but you're here and you're keeping on top of your finances so try not to fret too much!
Well done to everyone who has made payments! :j
Do you think you have all had your LBM? I'm not convinced I have entirely but I think I'm drawing closer. Last night OH and I had a babysitter, first time since September! So went out on a well needed 'date night' - to the bill of nearly £70! Ouch. Had budgeted for it (OK, maybe £10 less than it actually totalled) but still come away thinking 'we could of cooked in our house, and saved £70 towards our debt!'. - Still, we didn't, which is why I don't think I've had a real LBM!- [STRIKE]Credit Card: £2,989 / £2,989[/STRIKE]
