Congratulations Mat You must be so pleased. Don't worry about the dirt. At least it can be cleaned. It could have been a lot worse. Glad you have the keys and it's now yours. Enjoy your break at your OH's nan and relax before coming back to start work on your very own placeGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

Hey all, just checking in finally to say we completed at 3pm today. I went down to get the keys at 5pm and check it out...
All I can say is...the last people must have been living in dirt and grime. It is filthy, dirty, greasey, hairy (cats) and needs a lot of cleaning/painting. But thankfully that is all it needs.
So weird we didn't see any of that when we visited the flat while being lived in. Amazing what a sofa and living stuff can cover up in a flat.
Annoying we are visiting my partners nan this weekend so got no time to get in there and clean more.
In sadder news I just blew £700 on a washing machine, fridge freezer and wardrobe on the credit card. I will pay it off when we get deposit back on old flat hopefully. promise.
My sister had the same experience. Bought a lovely cottage and when she walked in for the first time it was grossly dirty; cobwebs, skirting boards thick with dust, the carpets saturated with dust - I cleaned her bedroom carpet and it filled my dyson 3 times! However, after a few hours and some elbow grease it was sparkling and she moved in the next weekendGood luck with the cleaning, it'll be worth it once you're settled in.

Ah, that's not so good about the grime. But lovely about the new home. Hope you will be happy there.
I'm hoping to be moving soon and am deep cleaning my property from top to bottom. Didn't their mothers ever teach them to leave things in perfect order just like they would like to find them?
Reminds me of the first house I bought...turned up on completion and they were still packing. Rolling up the Turkish rug on the nicely stripped and sealed floorboards to reveal the bit under the rug hadn't been done and was all paint splatters and ancient lacquers and muck...oh look they said, we forgot about that bit. Yeah, right...so that was my first job!Total debt at 18.9.17 £1950

On completion of this house, we got the keys from the estate agents, went straight round to find that they hadn't moved out. Thy hadn't eve started packing! It literally looked like they had got up and gone to work on a normal day! Took several phone calls between solicitors and a week to get them to move out of what was now legally our house! :eek:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

The good thing about being in a rental is that we can have an overlap between moving out and moving in, so if there are any problems we aren't homeless!
And on that note I reeeeally need to get saving!!!0 -
Hi all
I'm a bit late but do you mind if I join for 2015:).
I was in the challenge a few years ago and I managed to clear my debt but unfortunately it started to creep up again and my credit card is sitting at £2750:o. The main difference from before is that I know where the money went (new sofa & holiday) and it wasn't just frittered. I don't think I will have it cleared in 2015 but at least I will get started.
Thank you

I was hoping to pay more towards it but frittered it away on myself am annoyed about that but I know it helped me relax and chill out so can't really be angry about it.DFXMAS 2015 Total £4893.66 / £21,197.29 /23.08%
