After a very difficult year money wise and getting myself into a mess again a few months before the end of my DMP I have finally come out the other side ready to sort this debt once and for all. I should have been debt free at the end of April but not so.
I did some really stupid things which I'm not proud of and sort of gave up but in the past few weeks have come out the other side of the blackness and made some firm plans again.
Then this morning I had a letter out of the blue about two credit card PPI claims which were declined in 2012. Well they have reconsidered and will be sending me a check in 28 day reducing my debt drastically and giving me a fighting chance to be debt free before Christmas.
One of my failings is when I get near to the end I drop my guard and loosen up. This is another reason I messed up recently. The only place I keep focussed on my debt properly is here.
I will update with my new figure as I'm sure the one that is posted on page one at the moment is totally out of date.
By the way I have lurked and you're all doing fab:T.
Edited to say my new figure is £4287 - I hope its OK to change it.
#36 0/4287 - 0%
Hey Parsniphead... don't do yourself a disservice! If your figures are correct you're £797.82 less in debt than when you signed up. I've kept your original target of £5,084.82 and changed the amount paid to £797.82, which gives you a remaining target of... ta daaaa... £4,287. So it should read #36 £797.82/£5,084.82 Let me know if that's ok, or whether you would actually like to start again.
p.s. I'm a sucker for making some progress, feeling good, and then blowing it all again! It's our curse :rotfl:0 -

Loan 2 came out the bank the other day at £126.37 and I made an overpayment of £26.26.
So I'm now on £152.65/£3000.
Can I change my target to £5000 please.
Thanks
It's payday :j:j:j
Another £100 transferred across to loan 2 from the current account so that's me now on
£252.65/£5000
Should still be able to pay more but need to budget for the month ahead as I have a few things planned.
Regards

Thanks pablosmammy. That's fine. It looks better too.
I had got completely confused with my figures. Maths is not my strong point.
I can't wait for pay day so I can make some payments towards debt before the money comes through. I want to hammer is down as much as I can before then. Its such a shame that's its a birthday heavy month.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

I'm soooo wanting to post more often with additional/larger payments, but I'm in the middle buying another house, so need all my spare cash for fees and charges associated with that. I'll only have the basics to declare once DH's pay lands this month.
Keep going everyone :T0 -
Epic month for me this month. Sold a few big ticket items on eBay, and have had a lot of overtime come in. Also got a promotion at work (very unexpected) which is going to be worth an extra 6 grand a year, so around 500 quid a month, with a bit off for tax of course.
After a month of bills last month with MOT's, insurance etc, I ended up having to put some on the credit card, so my total debt figure is going to have changed a bit as a result, but I have just paid nearly 2 grand off the credit cards, and I have another 800 quid or so coming to me in the next few days from my other jobs, alongside money that is being held by paypal in clearing.
It is such an awesome feeling squashing these debts! I have closed three credit card accounts since xmas, and number 4 should be doable once I get the cash through at the end of the month.
There is actually now light at the end of the tunnel. I should all but clear my expensive cards in the next week, and then all that remains is to pay down another £2500 off the interest free card by the end of the year. I am actually going to be debt free for the first time in 20 years!
It would appear that my creditors might not be as chuffed as I am however. My noddle credit rating went from 4/5 to 3/5 last month, and reading around, it would appear that I have perhaps messed up my 'utilisation ratio'. Basically, closing the accounts, and being less in debt has meant that I am seen as not good business. Strange how the world works isn't it? It would appear that when I do hit my debt free target this year, I could actually mess my credit rating up to the point where I get rejected for phone contracts etc. Anyone have any advice? Probably head on over to the other threads as this is for paying off debt. It would appear I still need to spend on credit cards to keep Mr Visa happy, but I will be damn sure in the future to pay it all off immediately!
Anyway, new totals in the signature for the front page - thanks all and keep on going. Let's nail these debts!!

That's very interesting WoC as my noddle rating has also recently reduced to 3/5. I couldn't work out way but I'm now wondering if you are right and it's because I now have less "debt accounts" and also owe less. that's quite interestingGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

Managed to make another payment and clear my original debt with my parents! However they have currently paid for my car repairs (£320!) but due to issues logging into my online banking I can't pay them back for that yet but will once I can log into my bank again as have the money in my second account! However my mum's having a surprise birthday so I've paid for the DJ (£160) as dad can't or mum will know something's going on! So technically I only have £160 left to pay them. Not adding it on to my signature as this way I get another dancing man! :j
So current figure is - #49 £3,933.18/£5,000Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
From what I've seen, Noddle ratings don't seem to like any change to your account status at all! Mine hasn't budged off 3 (except for one month where it went to 4) for ages. That's despite me closing various credit accounts and my credit utilisation percentage going down.
I'd take anything it says with a pinch of salt. I wouldn't go as far as saying the score is meaningless as some people do - it can be an indicator of an adverse change on your credit report that you weren't aware of - but the 'score' certainly isn't seen by lenders. They have their own acceptance criteria.0
