When I'm off work next week I am aiming to go to Santand#r and get them to close my account! I also need to change my address with NW....banks are such a faff.

Edited to add - does anyone out money in a separate account for eg birthdays, car costs etc? Wondering if it would better to do this or keep it all saved in a lump sum somewhere.

I have a few additional saver accounts linked to my current account. I transfer £75 a month into one specifically for birthdays and Christmas. It doesn't have a great interest rate but it's easily accessible and pays for presents and towards birthday celebrations too. If I use my current account to pay for anything, I replace that money out of this account. Part of me thinks it's psychological but then part of me thinks it's really useful. On average I put £900 per year away (to spend mostly on other people!!!).

  • I'm late to the party but please sign me up! I could do with having a "real" look at my balances after I get paid next week and pay off the last bit of this year's challenge total but could I get a number now anyway?!

    Ditto :)
It doesn't have the budget thing (although you can set some, I haven't fully explored the app, I just do it myself and add them as recurring payments) but the cost of the app is significantly cheaper so triply worth it for me :)

  • Final DD payment for the year comes off tomorrow, then I'll just need to make the additional payment once interest goes on the loan statement to make it £100 in total paid off the loan this month.

It'll leave me £1250 short of my year's goal, but that's still a hell of a better place to be in than £5k of debt!

Does anyone else find they think about money more on Sunday? I always find myself in bed pondering how I could save more / spend less:rotfl:
