PABLOSAMMY- I reckon I owe £10,000. So please put that as my total. I am not sure I will pay it all but I will give it a go.
    Thanks

  • Hi, can I join please?

This will be my 3rd year of trying to clear our debts. Our debts have increased this year due to some work we had done on the house and we have also booked a holiday due to not having one for some time. Really looking forward to reading this thread every few days to stay motivated.

Can you put my total as £10,000 please.

Done and done. Welcome, chocoholicqueen! You've got #055
  • I keep checking my budgeting app to see what money I have spare. Just made £40 selling a sling, I might see if I can make an overpayment on my loan now, start as I mean to go on?

    This thread is so motivating!

(Plus I need something to make up for the guilt I'm going to feel when my £200odd Asda shop arrives in a couple of hours.... Bad, bad RTB)

  • I did it!
And it has a handy interest calculator, which showed that this extra payment of £40 will save me £15 of interest overall! I want to make more overpayments!! Eeeeee!

(Must steady on and be realistic, but wow! Seeing an instant result like that, am thrilled :D )

I have never overpaid anything before. I know I'm like an overexcited puppy, but this is pretty momentous for me *blush* I'll calm down in a minute!

  • That's an ace little tool, I wish First Direct did that. Think of it as if you turned your £40 into £55! Your enthusiasm is infectious, keep it up :T I keep looking at YNAB and doing imaginary payments etc. I reckon I could fairly accurately predict my bank balance day by day for the next couple of months :rotfl:
  • I've put £90 into a spare account, I aim to use it to make another overpayment but I'm keeping it there just in case we need all or some of it this month.

I really hope I don't lose this motivation. Clearing these debts this year would leave us with the car finance and the mortgage, (plus my student loan but I don't start repaying that for another 5 years) and I'd love to save up enough to pay the car finance off in 2016, leaving us a lot of spare money to start chugging away at the mortgage!
    How amazing would that be?
Possibly unachievable, but hell, if you don't try you've already failed right?
