Thanks for the great idea grassgirl. I've done my sums too. To make my target of £4842, I need to pay off...

    £403.50 a month, or
    £93.12 a week, or
    £13.27 a day

I'm going to keep this figures in mind as motivation :)
    LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
New roof and car £8557/£19003 New kitchen £396/£5039 Credit card Paid Student loan Paid
  • Just checking in, I'm #038

It appears I'm at £1367 although I only paid Step Change the same £50 as every month, the total they paid off this month was over £10 more. I'm not sure if this was put aside previously but I've only just seen having received my monthly statement.

Not sure if you want to update my total or just knock it off the debt. I'm happy either way :).

I'm off the mark with a huge £5! Only £4,995 to go!

    #49 £5/£5,000
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)
  • I'm not starting payments until 2015, I have been putting some money by but just in case I need it for something else I will hang onto it (my stepfather is very ill at the moment and I may need some for travel and bb as I live up north and he is down south.)

What I will do though is earmark a chunk for payment on January 1st after I have been paid. I can't wait to get started and I'm going to work my daily rate out etc, to give me some encouragement, as its a really good idea. It'll be good to see it going down

Of course, welcome! Number #053 for you :)
  • I dread to think what my daily rate is! I have my monthly target in my spreadsheet, and adjust it each month depending on how much I manage to pay. It's a bit scary to look at, but I'm trying not to bury my head in the sand (again!).

Payments really starting to trickle in now. Keep it up everyone, little bits here and there add up to a LOT! I'm about to sit down and do my budget for January, hopefully I'll have enough spare to make a conservative payment today.
  • Hi everyone!

I set my target as £4000 as I had a Barclaycard with 3k on and an overdraft with £1000 on, I have managed to get a loan to consolidate all of this and I'm paying far less interest than I was too! So because I've got fixed monthly payments now I won't be aiming for £4k..

Good luck to everyone with this thread and yeah maybe consider going for a loan? The rates are so low at the moment and you can consolidate everything into one payment :):):):):)

    Thanks guys xxxxxxxxx

Consolidating is rarely the answer, but in your case it's actually saving you money so well done :) Why not use the money you're saving to overpay the loan, and still aim for £4k? Low interest debt is still debt.
