  • Knowing I was coming on this thread today I just checked my bank account and work have paid 2 months worth of expenses so have just put the £145 in the savings account to hopefully chuck at the debt come payday! It's only left me with 30 quid in my account tho so going to keep an eye on that for next week. (payday Weds)

Despite the lack of payments I'm STILL trying to chip away - sold £30ish amount of stuff on eBay, put an invoice in for £350 yesterday, chasing Pandora for my £35 refund, and UoM for my £19 train ticket expenses.

Also spent hours (literally - 2 x 30 minute phonecalls!) to HMRC to try and sort out my Self-Assessment from Feb - they had no record of ANYTHING so the whole lot was re-submitted yesterday. If I can get this sorted then I can finally put in for my £2,000 from UoM which I've earmarked to clear the CCs! Hilarous too when you consider I got a letter from Lloyds telling me they're upping my credit amount to £1,500 (no thank you - that card is getting 'victory' shredded once I've paid it off!)

Working today to get another £120ish hopefully although sadly I've developed car troubles too - died on the M1 on Monday. :( Think the engine's blown, will know more this wknd but if so that's a new car I've got to try and get before April.

These things are sent to try us - come on March let's start 'Summer' on a high!!

    L. xx

PS: Keeping an eye on my phone contract too PabloSammy and all set to do the handset/SIM-only route come July! DizzyImp - super proud of you taking the step to chuck that amount at the debt - you're fab! Kittycat - it's scary and can seem disheartening but you're so right when you say 'that's what savings are for.' Your hard work managing your money has meant you've kept yourself out of credit and in the black despite all these knocks. Can you imagine if you hadn't saved? I'm sure there's plenty of us here that have been, and will be, there - having to find £1,000 out of mid-air to cover broken down appliances, cars, unexpected bills and fees - we know how it feels and you should be proud that you had some savings to dip into - it's what many of us (myself included) are striving for. £0 never looks hopeful but pat yourself on the back it doesn't have a minus in front of it! :D
Finally, amr - Hope Monday goes well for you - I am absolutely pants at interviews and the whole job application process - so my short-term contract career was really not a good choice! :p I'm sure you'll be great, you've prepared, which puts you heads above those that haven't, before you've even turned up! Will be sending lots of good vibes over the weekend for you! xx

Sounds like you're working hard! The benefits will show themselved eventually, even if it feels like slow progress at the moment. Sorry to hear about your car, fingers crossed it isn't too bad.
  • Thanks PabloS! You guys keep me going - I know it's going to feel SO GOOD when I clear just one of these debts. That feeling spurs me on - and this is the most aware and involved I've ever been with my finances so it's totally worth it! I'm hoping it'll be a 'ball rolling' type thing and once one's gone I'll be more determined to do more - or get my percentage rounded off like a lot of folks on here push to do. Either way, it's all headed in the right direction. :T

A bit of overtime came in this month, so I'm overpaying it straight into my FD loan. New total...

What I'm finding quite satisfying is calculating what my percentage will be for the end of year assuming I just make the standard repayments from now on. Each overpayment brings it closer to 100%... I'm currently at 84.6%.

I think when my projected payment percentage hits 100% I'll increase my target. Don't you just love spreadsheets... :rotfl:

Woop! Always nice to clear a card. Are you going to do a ceremonial cut-up? :T
