We can't stand our ground though, if someone doesn't cough up £200k they just turn it in to a rental property and they can still afford to buy somewhere else. The agents lose their earnings and we lose money and a home. Sellers win either way.
Everything was going so well, I knew something would happen. Life is never that fair.0 -

If it's too good an opportunity to pass up, then go for it. Is there much else available in the area for a similar value? Sounds like a right pain, I feel for you mate. They could just be trying it on though, it seems odd that the small matter of £3k would make the difference between selling or renting out.0 -
Live in the south east, everything that was £190k yesterday is now £200k today. Point proven is this property. Up on RightMove at £190k and now they want £200k0

My 2 pence worth...
If you can find the extra 3K then go for it. House selling/buying is very cut throat but be sure not to cut off your nose to spite your face!!
Perhaps offer 2K and see what they say.Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0 -
If you're already progressing I'd cough up but only if it's the perfect house.
Seriously though, what a way to act over 3k! nasty beggars.0 -
Unfortunately they have made it quite clear to the agent it's £200k minimum.
Spent all night looking for something else and there really isn't anything so reluctantly thinking we will cough it up. It's not going to affect the mortgage much as we had 10% of £200k deposit anyway but it's the principal. What's to say they do it again after we've done surveys and paid all other fees. Needs to be a law so we don't lose our money if they screw us over. It is in Scotland

Yes that is an issue... If they do it again I'd be pushing to recover fees Incurred!0

Mat_lock can you stay where you are or keep renting elsewhere while you look for somewhere else? Just because there are no other perfect houses right now doesn't mean that in a month or two there wont be and I would choose anything over dealing with these people0

I think I have March total
Managed to pay £800 off this month. Lower than usual but pretty good considering we moved house.
Most importantly....I have hit 20% of my this year's target.
1 acc closed so far this year and I'm so close to paying off another 3 they will be closed within 2 months.
Can start seeing a teeny tiny light in the distance. 0
