Hallo ladies,
Hope your headaches are easing littlemoog, and your backache too niptuck. Hope you're feeling better today too sweetilemon.
Good luck for the packing too littlemoog, I don't envy you that.
I had daily headaches from around 15 weeks to 18 though not sure if due to pregnancy or not. As they came on suddenly and left as suddenly think they probably were though I did find if I had a bad night it was worse.
We had a wonderful week in Scotland and at a friend's place for the weekend to extend that holiday feeling. So relaxed! Last night, 21weeks, saw the first kicks from baby though OH has been able to feel them for a few weeks already. So funny lying and watching your stomach contort and move; actually bit disturbing to watch. I put my kindle on my belly and we watched it wobble all over as baby moved.
In other news, we have picked our names which I'm pleased about as there are very few we both like!
Hope everyone else is OK.0 -
I have a Doppler actually and used it both last time and this from 14weeks till I could feel regular movements. I had a very strict rule and only allowed myself to listen once a week and used to give myself plenty of time though after the first time never had trouble finding it again.
For me, it kept me sane especially as I had a mmc previously and was petrified of a recurrence.0 -
Hi guys,
I've also been getting headaches, which seem to have eased now @ 19 weeks. I think mine were possibly sinus related, as I was waking up bunged up too. I've read that it can happen during pregnancy as the blood vessels can swell, and cause congestion and inflammation in surrounding tissues of the nose. I mentioned it to my midwife at my last appointment, she said I could try inhaling Olbas oil so I put a couple of drops on a tissue & put it next to my bed at night-seemed to help a bit!
I've just done 3 12.5hour shifts in a row, with an hour commute each way-I'm not feeling as shattered as I thought! I've got a week of annual leave now though, am going to visit a friend for a couple of days who is also pregnant & just broke her ankle, to try & give her a hand round the house. Then we've got our scan on Thursday, really hoping baby is in a good position as I'm dying to find out what it is!
I've been feeling baby move for the last couple of weeks, and DH got to feel it a couple of days ago-I was so pleased he can feel it, I felt bad I was experiencing it and not him. Saffagal I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to seeing ours move or not!!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
Have a good week off Laura_hoggle.
Got home from hols to find a letter with my consultant appt. The letter was dated the 1st Oct so likely arrived the 2nd or 3rd and the appt was on the 7th. As I gave them the dates I was away, 1st to 11th inclusive, back in August before reminding them 4 times in mid Sept when I chased and again at my scan on the 30th Sept I'm really really annoyed.0 -
That's so frustrating Saffagal! After telling them that many times too. We often get patients not turn up for appointments for scans & procedures as they are away-they've told their doctors who have neglected to tell us the dates when they've done the referrals. The NHS would save so much money if only people communicated properly!!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0

What makes it worse is that I know the dates were on my midwife's referral naming the consultant I need to see as the hospital reception got it out when I made sure they had the dates in August.
I also work for the NHS but in the community so usually my DNAs are because they have been admitted or forgotten due to dementia!0 -
That's so frustrating saffagal! Hope they give you another appointment soon. Hope you enjoyed your holiday.
My midwife appointment (16W) is tomorrow but now 18w after being unable to make my last. Really really hoping to hear the heartbeat, starting to panic all is not ok but have no reason to think this, just been so long since my 12w scan. Struggling to determine if I can or can't feel kicks too. I can feel feelings just not convinced it's kicks yet.0 -
Hi All,
Hope everyone is well tonight.
Saffagal, so frustrating you missed your consultant appointment! I would be very annoyed as well!
I saw my midwife on Thursday and heard the heartbeat again. All is well and I have the glucose tolerance test on Tuesday - soooo not looking forward to that.
I asked the midwife about when I would see the consultant again as I'm supposed to extra growth scans at 32 weeks and 36 weeks and she said to ask at the hospital when I have the GTT on Tuesday. She said what normally happens is that a letter would be sent out, but just to be on the safe side, I should ask them.
Also discussed the fact that I have SPD this time and she agreed that given the previous history, this time will most likely be a caesarean, which I'm absolutely fine with. I'd rather have that than risk the complications I had last time. For me, this is all about the end result - my lovely little bundle of joy at the end of it.
And last but not least, I guess I should move over to the next thread soon as I'm 25 weeks on Wednesday! This pregnancy is flying by!0 -
Amazingly I got through on my second attempt this morning. I was then told that the letter was sent out on the 15th Sept, but when I pointed out that this was impossible as the letter was dated the 1st October, and I had last rung on the 18th Sept and been told it hadn't yet been booked the woman apologised and booked me in for the 21st.
At least that is sorted!
It's OH's birthday this weekend and he has just finished a book and come up with another that he'd really like. Only issue is that it is actually out of print and I'm struggling to source it! Would it be ok to give him a second hand copy?
I'm still feeling quite detached this pregnancy; I think it is because I don't really need to buy anything other than some newborn nappies to start with. All the 0-3 clothes (apart from gifts) are neutral and I know my mil will be on a buying spree as soon as baby is here; she goes round and makes lists of things she likes for boy/girl and then goes and buys as soon as she knows.
Hope that everyone is well today x0 -

Quick update after my 20 week scan.
We are having a GIRL ! :j
Bit of a shock as everyone said they though it would be a boy, but a nice shock all the same.
Only downside from the scan is a low lying placenta, so have another scan booked for end of Jan to check if it has moved up. If not, then I will have to have a CS . Would rather give birth naturally, but don't want to take any risks.0
