An axolotl! Wow, there's a comparison! The app I used just had fruit and veg :rotfl: I think I would rather have had animals...
It's funny, a few people have said to me recently "hasn't it gone fast?", including DH who commented (whilst trying to 'walk the baby out' one evening) that it seemed like the other day that I was desperately trying to get his attention enough to tell him he was going to be a daddy. Not to scare you ladies but I disagreed with these people and gave them my best hard stareevery month has an average of 30 days apart from the last month of pregnancy which has 3,602.

totally agree, I don't know where the time has gone since I found out (apart from on all the sleeping and eating), so the idea that there's only 14-17 weeks left is really scary. Have started buying more bits - got some new hairbands for my hospital bag and some dummies (on offer in ASDA) - I don't plan on using them but as we live in the sticks and the nearest 24hr supermarket is 20 miles away (and the closest is still 14miles and shuts at 10pm) the thought of an un-sootheable baby late at night for over 2hours while I send OH on a mercy mission is just too much. If they stay unopened in the box I can always re-sell them.
Have been offered a loan of some new-born reusable nappies from a friend too, her youngest has just grown out of them into the "birth to potty" ones (which are apparently nearly always too big and bulky for newborns)MFiT challenge #60

This is what I've heard too - apparently none of them really fit until they're a good 11lbs, at least. I've bought Naty eco-friendly disposables for the first 4-6 weeks whilst I get my eye in on this baby malarkey. We're moving around this time too so I'm going to wait until that's done (going 6 hours away from "home") before starting a cloth nappy routine. I've already bought all my cloth nappies though (mixture of Amazon, Sainsbury's baby event and the Nappy Lady - do check her out) and they are adorable (well, as adorable as something manufactured to contain baby poo can be).
I've met a lot of resistance to our decision to cloth nappy in the real world, now I just don't tell people as I can't be bothered with having the same conversation. Any chance to talk about cloth on here and I'm all over it :rotfl:0 -
We used a soother for a couple of weeks - just to help DS get off to sleep when he first started teething once he had got to sleep it usually fell out and we just fished it out of the cot and washed it.
He decided when it was time to stop using it as he pulled it out himself to fit his thumb in. After that he never had one again.
I still think it's a good idea to have them around as we did end up using one despite saying we never would. Even if it's just to help them get off to sleep at difficult times - before they develop the coordination to get their thumb instead.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Oooh, LavenderBee, I'm happy to talk cloth! I've got my reccomendations from the Nappy Lady, and scouted out that my council do a nappy loan. And been advised not to bother with cloth until after the first few weeks or so. I don't really understand people being against it - I've had a whole bunch of people advising against going cloth, but none of them have tried it! I figure we've at least got to try.
And I'm definitely getting Cheeky Wipes, too
We're very fortunate - 5 min walk from a big Sainsbury's!
(Also I'm pretty sure the day before a scan right now lasts approximately 92.5 regular earth days...so can fully believe that the last month of pregnancy lasts 3,602)0 -
Hi Ladies and Gent,
May I join you?
Tuesday I had my 12 week scan thinking I was 12+3 but I'm measuring 13+0 (due 18th Dec). Which I was glad about - better to be further along than further back! I've been diagnosed with Hyperemesis and its been a struggle so every little helps. Fortunately Little One is fine and happily swimming away - probably oblivious to the drama he/she is causing out here.
DH and I are in the process of renovating our house - new central heating, new bathroom, kitchen rejig, full redecoration - and we now have a deadline. We also probably need to start shopping for some baby essentials too!
Hope you're all doing well

so good to find anyone to talk cloth nappies with. Only accidentally discovered on the weekend that one friend has been using them - another friend I would have had pegged as a definite cloth nappy user has been pampers all the way. Definite resistance from my parents and MIL - who remember the old fashioned terry squares and plastic wraps (so I'm not surprised they recommend against), I'm hoping they'll be pleasantly surprised by the new style ones (also hoping I'll be as impressed!)
NelliePie - we're also renovating (though taking it in stages so currently just the living room and the nursery to finish off - we've had to prioritise!) Hope the hyperemesis clears up soon (I'm still finding that I'm sick if I try to go more than 3 hours between meals - and that gets shorter if I actually try and do anything other than sit at my desk / on the sofa, so I'm definitely eating for two no matter what the midwife advises.MFiT challenge #60

Hi NelliePie! Welcome
I was put forward a week too! Suddenly got over the 12wk hurdle without even knowing it.
Wishing you all the best with the hyperemesis. And the renovations!!
I have a whole lot of good intentions with all the cloth stuff....although I am worried how you find the ones that fit your baby's bum!0 -
I'm not supposed to be here!
But LavendarBee got bored being stuck on the 24+ thread with only me for company and ran off to this thread!
So I sort of came too.
37 weeks on Sunday, growth scan on Monday. If they continue growing at the rate they have been then they're likely to chart as already being heavier than DS was at birth.
Which I can well believe as mr bump is huge!
You're all making me feel bad for using disposables!Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Hahaha, don't feel bad for using disposables! I really want to use cloth, but I'm aware that babies do not work to plans, however well intended they are. So it's more of a hope at the moment. And I'll only have 1 to deal with!0
