  • So sorry to hear that NWOIHTS. It is very common but that doesn!!!8217;t make it any easier to deal with. Better luck next time though and take care of yourself and your OH.

    Hi Munchkin,
Welcome to the group - it's a little quiet at the minute. I had a similar situation when I went in for my scan - I thought I was 12+3 and measured exactly 13 weeks.

For those further ahead/not FTM, I have my 16 week midwife appointment on Tuesday; other than the expected urine, bloods and weight is there anything else I should expect?

    Hope you're all well,
    NP

  • Hi Munchkin and welcome
Nellie - my 16 week appointment was just urine and blood pressure, a discussion of the results of my 12 week scan and booking in my 20 week scan. My midwife said at my booking appointment that they wouldn't weigh me again til about 30 weeks and I won't have any more blood tests til 28 (first lot at booking and a mini one at the 12 week scan as I was having the anomaly screening). You *might* be offered the whooping cough vaccine (you can have it from 16 weeks, but I've not had mine yet).

    Thanks for the info AFAHM,
I've already had my 20 week scan booked (the hospital did it at the end of my 12 week scan). I've already had 4(?) lots of blood taken due to hyperemesis so wondered if more was normal during a more normal pregnancy.

I just like to now whats coming - I expect it won't be a long appointment then.

  • Ah, they are probably keeping a closer eye on your iron levels etc because of the hyperemesis - hope that clears up soon, mine never quite got that bad but was still pretty miserable just feeling nauseous most of the day (I still get sick if I've not eaten enough protein).

All hospitals are different, but my 16 wk appointment is pregnant-person only, with a hospital-provided interpreter if needed, and it's when they ask if you're suffering any domestic abuse, and if there's anything like that they should know about.

Other than that it was wee in a pot, doppler to listen for the heartbeat and just checking over any results etc. you've had since last time. :)

I've been away with the in-laws for a week! No-one has been left buried in a shallow grave in the woods...but my god it was a close run thing!

Baby finally co-operated at my second attempt at the 20wk scan, and I've been told I'm getting growth scans at 28 and 36 wks! Didn't know that was coming, but I welcome any chance to see the little guy. He's kicking like a champ now, which is very reassuring.

Eugh. What a crappy week I've had. Had a spot of bleeding last Monday so had to go up to the hospital for an Anti-D injection. All fine with baby. When i got there my temperature was 38.5 and pulse 135 but I wasn't feeling overly unwell, just full of the cold. Got kept in until Wednesday morning as my temp wasn't coming down. The hospital was beyond roasting so is it any wonder :rotfl: They think I've maybe just had a virus.

All this time my back has been in agony, can barely move now because of it and I'm getting virtually no sleep so I'm back at GP today to see what can be done and get signed off work.

In other news we had our anomaly scan today. Baby is perfect and they think it is a boy. :D One of each, very exciting. DD wanted a brother!
  • Bosscout - they are all different aren't they. Mine seem quite happy that OH wants to come along to stuff (or is dragged along by me in the hope that he will stop fretting if he gets to hear from them how well baby and I are doing).

My baby spent almost all of Saturday kicking like anything - much more than at any point before - but is now back to a more gentle wriggling like I'd got used to last week.

  • Toots - that does sound crappy - hope your back is better soon, mine's been a b*gger too, and I'm struggling to get comfy in bed even with a multitude of different pillows; have found though that the solution to my hip pain on getting up from my chair at work is to just get up more often - not that difficult with needing to stay hydrated in this heat (and therefore regular trips to the loo!).
Glad the scan went well though :-)
