OH hasn't told work yet, although she sort of wants to, just a bit scared to. Since they've had a lot of people off on maternity leave and its less than a year since she was.
She's walking with coat held in front of her.
Time doesn't feel as slow this time. I think although I'm really excited about the baby and scans etc. We just don't have the time to be obsessing over it like we did - counting every passing minute until a milestone.
So busy with DS. It's good as it's making the time pass quicker. I am looking forward to the scan, hoping to find out what we're having.
I'm mixed - on the one hand OH does not know what the sex is (last time she was convinced boy from the very start and it was), she's also had very different and much stronger first trimester symptoms this pregnancy.
But the scan photos didn't really give any clues and I think really the baby's skull looks very similar to DS scan pic. Although they were a week apart which makes a big difference that early on. Sometimes when I look at it I think it looks more rounded or whatever.
But when I've done skull theory tests online I'm wrong half the time - I don't think it really works that well since heads vary so much anyway, also trying to compare them to try and see the sex doesn't really work.
So I've stopped trying to work it out.
I keep saying I'd be happy with either, would be great to have two boys, but would also be lovely to have s girl this time and I really would like to have a girl eventually. This being second we're running out of tries!Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Time is definitely dragging for me. The days go fast as I'm busy with work, but for some reason everything in general seems to go slowly. It doesn't make any logical sense! My mum thought I would be seeing the midwife weekly, was shocked when I said I wouldn't see her for 8 more weeks (had 16 week appointment at 17 weeks, next one at 25). Though she also thought that everyone got a year off work on full pay
I have another week in the office to hide the bump, I wore my loosest jumper this morning, it's really really loose and drapey. Looked down and saw bump sticking out! I do have a feeling someone will say something next week.
Good news is I'm getting kicked on a daily basis at fairly regular times. I still want carbs...0 -
OH told one person at work because they kept asking over and over again what she'd be doing next year (work wise) and so she ended up saying - I won't be here because I'm having a baby!
I'm looking at cars still, trying to find one that we can fit two in - it's a nightmare just with DS in her Fiat 500 so need to replace it. But she doesn't want anything too big.
Likewise I've been trying to find a good two seater pram for newborns to toddlers that does parent facing ... And doesn't cost more than the cars I've been looking at :rotfl:
It's actually rediculous how much some of these cost. It doesn't help that it's only the pricey ones that get reviewed by places like Madeformums etc.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Well we got the car ticked off the list. We all went for test drive yesterday (DS loved it was giggling the whole way) - bought a Skoda Fabia. Was good to drive but also has a good sized boot, rear doors open really wide and there was plenty of room for our child seat - including with it rear facing and it's quite a bulky seat.
It'll certainly last until baby 2 is plenty old enough to front face.
I've got car envy now though...I want a new car! lol
16 weeks today

Oh Freddie don't get me started on pushchair prices!!! I was horrified when I realised that an "average" one costs more than my first car did (I'm only 31!), and some of them as much as my first two cars put together!!! There are very few that we're remotely interested in, and being first timers we want to physically look at what we're buying, and so much is online these days. We've resigned ourselves to taking a day out of our babymoon to go to a big retail park and try and draw a conclusion.
We're on mango week, to celebrate we've eaten a mango. In hindsight that might be weird... At the end of the week we'll be carrot/banana which is less weird as we get through lots of both anyway.
I feel awful about work, I'm signed up to run events the other end of the country a week before I'm due...0 -
Feeling a bit daft on the car thing - we both have new cars that are "family friendly" because we were TTC when we got them, but hubby's posting plans have all changed and it looks like I'm taking a break to follow him round and bring up little one for a few years. So we don't need two new, medium sized, family friendly cars - we need one big one! We'll be travelling back to see relatives for the weekend fairly regularly and I've heard that going away with a baby means taking lots of things... Either of ours would have been fine for the standard paraphernalia and would take pretty much any pushchair in the boot, plenty of space for the seat etc; but neither are really up to bringing pushchair, seat, travel cot, most of baby's wardrobe and changing supplies, other supplies for 4 days, our bags, spare bedding and towels etc, dropping the cat into the cattery on the way - let alone the fact we want another child too!
I would have loved a 500 at some point, but it's never going to be practical now!0 -
Picked up the car today. Its great.
Fiat 500 is cute but the drive today on the motorway was awful. I've never done a long journey in it before - shakey, noisy and uncomfortable.
The drive back with the new car was heaven. I had been feeling a bit nostalgic and sad thinking of getting rid of it since we've had that car so long, but that last drive made me really glad to be rid of the thing!
It's fine if you're only doing little town trips.
OH has 16 week Midwife appointment tomorrow and got some new maternity leggings and a top delivered. Some of her maternity trousers obviously got stretched last time and so just feel like they're falling downMortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Funny you should say that about maternity trousers - I looked at my only maternity jeans this evening and wondered if the elastic is going to stay the distance, it's a lot of strain we put them under! They are under the bump as I was so bloated in the first trimester, I'm the same size now but it's baby rather than bloat
I have a horrible feeling I'll end up with a second, over the bump, pair before I'm done (like you I'm hoping my maternity wardrobe will be used again!). I bought a black maternity/nursing dress on Amazon that is my favourite thing (also great for trying to cover up the bump), then found a blue one the same reduced to a fiver delivered - sold! I like things that are dual purpose and can be used for longer
One of our cars is a Skoda - we do love it. If we do get a bigger car we'll probably get another Skoda as it was/is good value for money.0 -
I was looking at an Octavia or Superb estate.
Decided really though, since my car is big enough for everything other than long holiday I should just buy some roof bars and a box. We managed last summer - JUST - but was a pain and that was with just one child in the back.
Concern was where on earth we'd keep a roof box but I've seen you can get collapsible ones that fold up like a travel cot.
My car has been reliable so I'll keep it as long as possible I think...or until we win the lottery.
OH loved her maternity trousers last time. She had to get a few more things as last time it was much warmer by the time she was in them so mainly wore dresses. This time she's grown much quicker and its earlier in the year - so cold brrrrMortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

I'm having the same issue with my own maternity clothing as I am with trying to work out what we need for baby clothing, flipping English weather! I've got winter/spring maternity clothing, but I will be full term in June. I thought some of my non-maternity wrap dresses would still be fine and I could just wear them on their own, but I think I underestimated how big I could get by then.
I think for little one it'll just be a case of getting minimal amounts of things in the smallest sizes. Not only do we not know how big they'll be, but in June the weather could be anything from tropical to blowing a gale and stormy. At least with a winter baby you know it's going to be cold!
I have one more day in the office hiding my bump. Then I'm working at home, external meeting, then scan day. Thank heavens!0
