  • Hello! I a, finally graduating to this thread as am 12+1 today!
My scan is 24th so I'm stupidly excited to see little one, and a lot of nervous. Nearly everyone knows now (my partner couldn't keep anything to himself lol) and it's our first and the first grandbaby on OH's side so everyone's really excited. Don't have anything close to resembling a bump, though something is just pushing my podge out further!
I got diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarium but it doesn't seem as bad today as it has been so I'm hoping (and praying) that the end to morning sickness is in sight!

    Hi everyone,
Glad you're all doing well, I'm officially 18 weeks today, my scan still seems so far away. Got a bit of a bump but I think i just look podgy, food definitely makes it more prominent :rotfl:
I was so pleased to get rid of the constant nausea and had a glorious week free of it. However yesterday at work I began to be uncontrollably sick (glamorous in the middle of the office much?!) and had to be carted home :( I've either eaten something dodgy or I've got norovirus as the other end joined the party too (sorry TMI). All I'm keeping down is water and I'm a bit worried about how long I can carry on like this with bub, but all the advice I've read says give it 48 hours if water is staying put.
    Congrats woolisox and welcome :)
April87 - so exciting to know, I can't wait, congrats! I did all these gender prediction things on google for a laugh, half came out as boy and half girl :rotfl:
Oh and I booked my NHS classes, 5 sessions here so I'm gonna try 1-2 of them before deciding if I should fork out for NCT.
    Xxx
    Baby due 21/06/2017 :)
  • Hi all,

I've been relaxing so hard since I left my last job! Not putting in a huge amount of effort to find another but I probably should start now that I feel "rebalanced".

My maternity jeans from Gap arrived and they are SO comfy. They look from the outside and fit just like their ordinary jeans which is perfect. So I'm delighted about that. I've just this week (18 weeks exactly today) started to get a real bump which is hard rather than just having a thick middle which is great. Although I feel like I've been growing a lot over the last few weeks, despite having only put on 2lb since my BFP?! Using that as an excuse to have cake with my cup of tea anyway!

Our 20 week scan is on Tuesday 31st - I can't wait. Have used this time off to clear out our study which is going to become the nursery and now we've bought some lovely zoo-themed curtain fabric for curtains, a lampshade and cushions. It's very colourful so we need to decide which colour to pick out and use for the walls. Have bought a chest of drawers and wardrobe which arrived yesterday - these are normal/adult furniture so we have some flexibility with it as we're likely to move house within a couple of years and it's the same range as our bedroom stuff so can be shifted as necessary. As soon as we've had the 20 week scan I'll be throwing caution to the wind and buying the cot and getting friends over to help paint and get the room ready!

Anyone else nursery decorating yet? I know it's still quite soon but it makes sense I feel whilst I'm feeling good and I've got bags of time on my hands. Don't fancy juggling it with full time work (if I find something) and a huge bump later down the line!

In terms of classes we're going to a couple of NHS free ones and have booked a private course with the NHS as well. It's cheaper than the NCT equivalent and as I have a fairly relaxed attitude to pregnancy and childcare I'm not sure if the NCT classes would be for me! I have got the impression that they can be a bit pushy / some of the women are quite highly strung and opinionated. That's fine but probably not for me.

Must pop in and comment more regularly... I read often but rarely remember to write!
Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.
Enjoying sending hundreds of pounds a month to savings rather than debt repayment!

I'm going to be nursery decorating ASAP at least in terms of walls/ paintwork as they're holding new carpet for that room for them and I can't ask them to wait forever.

Just need to tidy my junk out first. So that's ground to a halt :/ The Murals will come later when arty sister can come to do them. WInnie the Pooh for sure though. And a neutral colour

Once our bedroom is done, the study (to be nursery) is next on my hit list. We're just going with white walls though and will think about accessorising closer to the time. So far options discussed are Zoo, robots and dinosaurs.

Looking forward to a holiday next week!

Thanks Penguin, that is useful - my work were trying to imply that I couldn't carry over more than 5, which is ridiculous when I'm due in June. It's all rather unclear - hoping we can discuss it properly when we do our request for Shared Parental...though I'd rather get it agreed sooner rather than later!

Welcome Woollisox, hope you start to feel better soon
  • Thank you all :)
Prochloperazine are a godsend. Only been on them a few days but they are making so much of a difference.
Haven't even thought about a nursery yet... my living room has been rewired and we're in the process of getting it plastered (OH is doing the plasterboarding and then getting someone in to plaster) but it's been a long, hard slog with loads of issues. I think I want elephants as a theme though. They're my favourite animal and the only thing I've bought so far is a plush elephant.
Too much decorating in my near future!

So I just moved all the carp out of bean's room. Ready to move the single bed which will go back in tonight. Thinking yes, will decorate next week. No, apparently husband wants to add a loft hatch in there. To be fair, it's a blinking tight crawl to there and would be handy storage but RARGHGARHGARHAGRHRGHRGAHG

At least I can have the joy of removing the old carpet tomorrow. That always feels like a big step forwards.

Starting to wonder if i'm feeling fluttering. Or if it's too early and it's wind!

Arbrighton, how far gone are you? I felt fluttering at about 16.5 weeks, but it was super faint and I only felt it a couple of times in the first week. Got more from about 18, but there is so much variation depending on position of bean, placenta etc. And I feel your pain about over enthusiastic OHs! I just want to paint, but he has lots of other stuff that apparently needs done and it never progresses as a speed that suits my impatience.

We're on the 7 day count down to the scan. It can't come quick enough! The past few weeks seem to have gone quite quickly... but the scan seems to not have gotten any closer!

My belly has definitely appeared, almost overnight and my boobs are now bordering on obscene (OH has said that if he has his way, I'll be permanently pregnant. He wasn't so thrilled when I replied, if I had mine, he'd be getting the snip :A I was kidding, but still).

I also have major baby brain :rotfl: :o
