Blimey Vanilla - 30 weeks at full pay is very generous. I was pretty happy with the 18 I get! Clearly I need to find a new employer for baby number 2...!

Yes grateful for the good package, I could take another 9 weeks at SMP but giving that to TH as I earn more.

Aldi baby event started online too, in store next week I think

We discovered last week that virgin offer fully paid paternity leave for 12 months! Had to Google it as we didn't believe someone. But it has to be taken as part of shared parental leave. Jaguar also offer 12 months full pay maternity leave. Very jealous.

Amazing!! Our place does 8 weeks paid for Dads and I get 20 at full pay which I thought was pretty good.

Vanilla - for shared it is mainly his work which need the complicated forms, but your work will need a "curtailment notice" with plenty of warning, which basically is your way of ending mat leave and converting to shared. Depending on your plans, I would strongly recommend checking with both HR depts as the ACAS forms allow for some very complex uses of the leave - meaning they can actually be far more complicated than needed.

And here I thought my maternity leave package was pretty good. Some of the packages out there are pretty good. I need to get out the council :rotfl:

I noticed a lot of places have started baby events. I'm just looking for one that sells the buggies I'm looking at. Hoping me and the OH can agree on one over the next few weeks. I know Boots we're doing 5 large packs of Pampers for £20 online not 100% sure it's still ongoing.

My OH gets one week paid leave and one week statutory. Very mean. And I feel sorry for those who only get statutory, as I guess it means some dads don't feel they can afford to take any time off.

Argh I've planned this so badly! I only get statutory and my OH won't get anything as he's a contractor. C'est la vie, I guess - if we can get through this, we can get through anything...

Same here, but he's going to take some leave as well, and then we want to do a month or so of shared parental at the end - hopefully coinciding with me taking my accrued AL, so we can have a month or so together at home with baby.

That's what we're doing firebird - except OH will have some time on his own after too :-)

Poddle- worth checking, but he should get statutory paternity for 2 weeks. That's what my OH will get on his unpaid week. It's only £139 a week, but better than nothing.

Paternity seems to vary so much. At my work it's 2 weeks statutory. With my OH he has been offered a week full pay and an extra week holiday. Either that or 2 weeks statutory. It doesn't help that they are relatively small, and one of his boss's being due 2 weeks before me. We've not even considered shared leave, he earns a fair bit more so it doesn't make sense for us. I think he'll end up taking a week at full pay with the following week being half days. Then hopefully a few weeks off later as normal holidays when it's quietened down.
