I haven't moved over to the scary thread yet. I probably should but it makes me feel disorganised as I haven't bought anything yet!0

Wife got a call today almost a week after her first scan and told us there is a 1 in 50 chance of down syndrome. She is really upset but I'm trying to stay positive and from reading numerous forums a lot of people are saying not to worry. Anybody had similar experiences and should we worry ? We have booked to have the amnio scan 2 weeks from today and fingers crossed we get the all clear.0

Just remember that means that if 50 Babies with that risk are born then only 1 would have Down's syndrome. That's only 2%. Only the amnio can give you the definitive chromosomal diagnosis. So sit tight and try not to google too much.0 -
Thanks for your reply. Odds are in our favour I feel so its trying to convince the miss that it will be ok.0

I've not had a similar experience but pm04gn is right, just focus on the odds and definitely don't google if you can avoid it (although I know it's so tempting!!). It might be worth trying to get your wife to think of it this way - getting these tests/amnio/etc done is productive and useful in terms of gaining information, you can't decide or do anything unless you know the full picture and the more information you get the better equipped you are to deal with whatever the outcome is (positive or negative). I'm not sure if I've expressed it well, but I hope you get what I'm getting at. I am a natural worrier and it's how my husband put all these tests to me, as a positive thing rather than a negative and it really helped ease my fears and worries. For now, try not to worry, although I know it is so incredibly hard not to do so.
wendz, congratulations on graduating! I'll take over doing the lists for the time being.

It's gone very quiet on here, how are we all doing?

Hi Mrs_I
All good over here - started feeling flutters last Monday, and now feeling proper little jabs! OH even felt one on Sunday morning and last night. Obviously still small stuff as baby is so tiny (I'm 18+3), but there's no mistaking it for anything other than bub. Unless I wear baggy clothes there's no questioning whether I'm pg now either, which is nice as it's quite a cute little bump rather than looking like a beer belly!
How's everyone else doing? xDS - 08/15

Just typed a long message and it's disappeared!
Hello to those still reading.
Essentially I'm starting to feel much better and now just waiting for the bump to kick in. 15+5 today. Scan in 4 weeks so not long to wait.
I wanted to recommend the belly belt.

Will hopefully mean you can wear your own trousers the whole way through with a longer top over the small gap.
I also ordered a multipack of tops from asda which was a good deal. Seems early but there is so little stuff in the shops I didn't want to suddenly have nothing to wear.
There are a few places (I've seen in both peacocks/asda) that have nice jersey dresses which are maternity and nursing. Perfect for our summer babies!0 -
Hi all,
hope you are all doing well.
pm04gn I agree about the belly band/bump band. Mine got me out of a fix the other day when I realised the maternity jeans my sister had given me were way to short, popped my old jeans back on with the bump band covering the open fly and was good to go!
Claire_A87 I am jealous of your flutterings and pokes, everyone keeps asking me if I've felt anything yet but I haven't, I'm 18+2. It's my first though and apparently it can be up to 22 weeks.
Have you all discovered maternity leggings yet? So comfy, I don't wear them as leggings on their own but instead of tights with boots under a dress, more comfortable than mat tights (which I am wearing to work most days).
Am shattered so it's an early night for me tonight. Take care ladies (and ladies partners).

Cait - where have you got your maternity leggings from?
I'm okay, just plodding alongI just want the next scan now, though that's not til the 26th March
haven't felt anything, but definitely expanding
