Saw the midwife today. Mentioned having my appointment through for April for the consultant. Seems that she is very open to helping me achieve a breech vbac if I want one. And that she will contact the supervisor of midwives after seeing the consult so get the ball rolling. She has warned me that the consult will most likely use the word no but that I need to remember its my body and my choice. Good on that girl! She has jsut gone up in my books!

That is good they are backing you Rebekah. At the session i went to last week on vbacs they said that always good to get supervisor of midwives involved and if one consultant team say no they have to pass you to another consultant team.

Had my consultant appointment this afternoon. They are happy for me to go for a vbac and said it was a good sign I got to 9cm last time. Also they won't let me go through a long labour again which I am happy about too.
  • All good news on the vbac front ladies! Glad you've found someone to fight your corner Rebekah :)

Got my 16 week appointment tomorrow (16+5). When I saw my community midwife last time she told me to book my 16 week app in and we'd listen to the heartbeat then, so I really hope she does as I've read loads of other ladies' experiences who's MWs haven't listened for HB at 16 weeks. I really want to hear it!

  • Rebekah, I am so thrilled you've got such a fab midwife fighting your corner for a vbac!

wendz, really pleased your consultant's appointment went so well and they're also supporting your wish for a vbac and that they will look after you too. :)

Claire, how did your 16 week appointment go? Did you get to hear the heartbeat?

I had my 16 week appointment today too and it went brilliantly. Blood pressure nice and low, all is good and my midwife is very happy with how things are going. Got to hear a lovely strong heartbeat and record it on my phone for OH to hear later. Absolutely thrilled. :D Got an extra scan on Monday (at 16+5) that my consultant arranged for just a bit of reassurance in the run up to 20 weeks (when we lost our previous pregnancy).

Hope everyone else is doing well too!

Claire - hope your 16 week appointment went well.

Miss_I so glad your appointment went well, so lovely to hear the heartbeat. That is great they are doing an extra scan too.
  • It went great thanks ladies :) Blood pressure nice and low, whatever they test for in your urine sample (proteins?) came back fine & most importantly a lovely clear, strong heartbeat :D Plus I actually remembered to get the flu jab (when I meant to get it 10 weeks ago), so all in all a pretty darn good morning.

Yay for your 16 week app Mrs_I! Glad you've got a reassurance scan, I bet you can't wait to see him/her again.

  • So glad your appointment went well, Claire, and you got to hear the heartbeat too! Sounds like you had an exceptionally productive/good morning with having the flu jab too. (I think it's protein they're testing for in your urine, I can't remember what my midwife said other that mine was clear...)

Can I ask you ladies about your weight gain? I'm now 15 weeks and I've only gained a lb so far, and it's making me slightly worried :( I know you shouldn't ask if someone's gained weight but I just wondered where other people were at this stage?

I'm 14 weeks and have just started to put weight on after losing 2kg in the first trimester. Only 1-2lbs so far. I assume that at some point soon the weight gain is going to pick up at speed so I'm not too worried.
Are you eating normally or still feeling a bit sicky?
