I'm very bored tonight so I've started to write a list of everything I need. It seems very short so I must have missed lots of, I'm sure things will be added as I go along though!
  • Get a baby catalogue. The boots one is good. They're great for making you think of things you've missed.
This bump now has more clothes than I do! In all sizes up to 9 months, so all bases are covered. Get all giddy looking at how cute and tiny they are. We've got the first of the car seats but not the second yet. Got a few other big items but mostly got the smaller bits so far, snuggle blanket toy and matching rattles and teethers, nappy wrapper bin, blankets, bath, bath seat, more baby oil, lotions, creams, wipes and shampoos than I think we'll ever need, Moses basket and liners, blankets..etc.
We have a list of abiut 60 things we need to get which is a good few grand. And then there's carpet, paint, curtains and everything else for the nursery.
I'd like to think we thought of most things, but I bet we've missed so much too. But even if we get her home and realize we have. We will hopefully have the things we need til we can get to a shop.
Crazy how much they need. Even with people saying half of it you don't actually need and will never use.

Does anybody have any experiences of isofix bases?
We've started looking around at travel systems and the one we like has the option of one (most seem to now). SIL doesn't have one and the faf with the seatbelt is something I'd happily do without, especially if you know baby is as secure as can be.

Becky- I'm looking at getting an isofix base too, I don't actually have isofix in my car yet, but it can be put in fairly easily and cheapily so that's my plan. Having a baby at the cold wet time of the year has partly swayed me, but also the fact you know the baby is secure and safe each time without worrying you may have done something wrong.

My plan I think is to get the base to go with the car seat that comes with the pushchair and to get a 0-4 year isofix car seat for ohs car.

I will pick up a catalogue eventually, but initially my plan is to list all the essentials I need, if I have a catalogue I will be at risk of adding lots of non essentials which may will end up unused because I get carried away!!!
  • I don't have a clue about isofix bases sadly. My husband did a lot of reading up on seats, reading reviews. Same as on pram systems. Both our cars are isofix ready. Whatever that means. Again, I didn't have a clue. He made sure mine did before buying it for me.
I seem to be finding more things I'm clueless on, the more things we look at.

  • We have the Maxi Cost Pebble Plus for our 9week old. We have found it so easy and feels secure. Like you, the faffing about with a stately didn't appeal.

Delighted with the car seat, even if a bit more expensive
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated

Thank you sunny, I will have a look at that car seat.

Currently sat with a hot water bottle on my back as it really helped yesterday. I think it's caused by too much walking (at the weekends) and sat in the same position all day at my desk (during the week). Still suffering with headaches too, although they have been much better!!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.x

We had one for our britax car seat.. I couldn't undo the clip to release the seat and it was so incredibly uncomfortable the baby screamed the entire time she was in it.

We had the M&P isofix too.. it NEVER seemed secure enough.. and I couldn't get the seat out of it. fail number 2!!

Next we got the besafe Go.. best car seat EVER.. it is more laid back than other seats so no head slumping at all, was comfy etc and no screaming! I could get that out of the car however, it was too heavy for me to carry with a baby in it.

In the end I just got the besafe izi kid 3.. suitable from birth - 25kg, extended rear facing etc and left that in the car and just took the baby out.. that I can do easily and no lugging a stupid seat about. I would never use one on the pushchair chassis anyway so it suits our needs perfectly. My 4 and 2.5 year olds are still in them.

I think I only used the car seat on my pushchair frame once, when I went to Yorkshire for a two day visit and we needed to visit people in hospital. Otherwise we always took the carrycot and put her in it

Beckyy - I had isofix when my 2nd DS was a baby (11 years ago  ) so it was fairly new then and I still secured the seat with a seatbelt, just to make sure.

We've bought the Maxi Cosi Pebble Plus with a 2 way fix base when John Lewis price matched the baby show price and they recommended using the seatbelt to secure as well as the base. I know some people my sister included who never bothered with the seat belt, she simply clicked in the seat and off she went. The base makes it so much easier to know its installed correctly as its colour coded, it goes green when its secure.
