Morning everyone - hope you're all OK.

Had my scan yesterday all appears to be well :T no willy in my belly as the sonographer confirmed her to be a little girl :T don't know why I thought it would suddenly be a boy lol - all these blinking dreams I keep having. Apparently she has very long legs!

My work wont do a H&S assessment until I hand in my MATB1, I'm off on annual leave from Thursday so I'll be 24 weeks by the time I return to work - I know they don't have to legally conduct an assessment but as I work alone most of the day and in an LPG yard you'd think they'd do it sooner seen as though my office is the farthest from the exit :rotfl: Employers eh!!

Sorry to hear about your work Rinroo, but yay for team girlies! Haha

Nesting has begun, I've been cleaning in my kitchen for at least 3 hours today :O not amused as last set of tenants left the place in a crap state and today is the first day I've had to have a proper clean at it.

I'll be phoning the manager of the place I live, they really should have paid for a deep clean in the kitchen but obviously didn't bother. I'm having words.

Think baby moved today a little under my ribs as I felt really breathless earlier! Anyhow, back to cleaning!

Hello all! I'm joining you to day. Had a few hours and it's finally sinking in that it's all really happening. Healthy baby

Had NT scan today and have been dated as 12+4 (12+2 was what we thought based on 10 week scan) the due date stays the same though.

The NT measurement was 1.6mm so hopeful that we won't be hearing anything from them for a few weeks. Said they'd call within 2 days if there was high risk, otherwise letter would just come through the post.

Have told my grandparents and one of my sisters today. Will call my other sister when she's not working. They're all really happy, sister was in tears on the phone!

Really chuffed to be here :D

Congrats Freddie Frugal!! Flutterby, my hubby guessed the sex correctly - I'm never going to be let forget! Haha I didn't speculate cos I didn't want to have any disappointment, but I'm delighted to have a girl.

Did anyone manage to correctly work out the sex of the baby based on their 12 week scan. Or had a go at trying to look for hints - successfully or not.

See I'd read about the nub - angle of dangle - theory. One of our scan pics from yesterday does in fact show the nub, plus the baby is lying almost completely flat.

It's definitely sticking up and out at a fair angle, not pointing downwards or parallel with the back.

So in theory that means it's a boy. But also read that at this stage even if it looks more like one than the other it can change.

Basing it on skull theory is hard because different websites give slightly different definitions of the difference between the boys and girls skull.

Probably because we're all shaped completely differently anyway! But generally the more rounded it is - more likely to be a girl. The more angular it is, with flatter forehead - more likely to be a boy.

So based purely on that description I think the skull seems more like a girls. However I know for a fact that some boys may have rounder skulls while some girls may be more angular. So these boundaries aren't fixed.

It's still fun to guess though! I still feel likes it's a boy and OH said that's what she felt just from the 10 week scan. Just feels like it's a boy.

I'd be happy with either. I must admit I've thought several times that I'd really like a girl but actually genuinely would be really happy either way.

My daughter brought her 12 week scan pic round and I took one look and said am I allowe d to tell you that is s girl? They laughed at me as there hadn't been a girl in their family for 53 years.. Sure enough she is a girl !!

So yes it is possible to tell

Sounds like yours is a boy though

Morning everyone, I'm also a graduate from the less than 12 weeks thread moving over!

We had our 12 scan yesterday too and they dated 12+4 with EDD 1st October. A few days earlier than I'd worked out but much and such the same.

I've also been reading about the nub theory etc. but baby was moving around a lot at our scan and didn't lay straight long enough for any of the pictures to show a clear nub. Typical :p

Congrats Becky! Wishing you a happy pregnancy, it's an exciting time.

Sorry Freddie, I've no theories on sex, I know one of my friends was told early on it was one sex and it turned out to be another so that's why I didn't speculate with my girl. They can tell after 16 weeks though for certain usually! It'll definitely come out in the end :)

  • I work with a guy who was told his girlfriend was having a girl. All the way through, every scan they said girl, girl, clearly girl. Everything pink was bought, room was decorated for her. Out pops a boy.
I will find out in three weeks but I think we will also go to the private place for a gender scan too, for a second opinion. Feel a little safer then. What happened to those two made me a bit wary. And I don't think I'll be 100% confident til he or she is here.

I know there are the old stories my mum and mother in law always say, that you can tell what it is by how you're carrying. But that theory didn't work out for my sister, so not betting on that either.

I don't mind what I have, but I've always said "he" from the beginning rather than "it". my husband has always thoughts it's a girl. One of us is right!

Anyone have a clue what is safe to take for a cold? I know any cold and flu remedies with decongestant are out. I tried making honey and lemon, just to smooth my throat from the cough but all its done is made me very sick for some reason. I don't want anything else adding to the reasons I can't sleep past 1am. So I'll try anything!
