  • I thought I'd pop in with a more cheerful face on now, my mood seems to have lifted a bit now and I'm trying not to be so aggressively defensive with my partner!.

Talking of inappropriate questions and comments though! A guy in my class at school, his partner just had a baby last week and he's had loads of congratulation, well dones, you'll be a great Dad, etc. I can guarantee when I tell everyone tomorrow I'll get far more, are you mad, couldnt do it again at your age, should be putting your feet up, etc! Somewhat annoying how its assumed men are equipped to deal with it in their 40's but not the one who actually go through the pregnancy and birth (though I question my own sanity sometimes :rotfl:

One slight question, was anyone else uncomfortable right from the early stages? As in kept feeling tugging and pulling, the occasional sharp pain, and feeling completely full up when sat in particular positions or bending over. The baby is either still doing somersaults or I have massive amounts of indigestion!

    Love to everyone

Yes, very much felt like that. I also had horrendous bloating and IBS. Cleared up after week 13 and everything has been fine since (currently 31 weeks)

Morning all, it's been a bit quiet on here lately. Hope everyone's ok and had nice weekends. We moved house last week, so the weekend was pretty hectic, went to Ikea and finished cleaning at the old house, I'm so sore and achy today. Not good news as I'm in the lab on my feet for the next few days, I'll be a wreck by the end of the week at this rate!

23 weeks today, only a week to go until V-day. Getting lots of movement from baby now, which is very reassuring, after our mc earlier this year I've found I'm much more anxious than when I was pregnant with my DD :o

I got called for an appointment at my GP's last week, which turned out to be completely pointless, they just wanted to review my thyroid meds after receiving a letter from the consultant at the hospital about them. All they did was change the dosage instructions on my prescription to agree with what the consultant said, seemed like a total waste of an appointment to me!

Hope everyone else is ok x

i wondered to myself the other day how can these folk that give birth at 9 months saying the didnt know they were preg not have some sympotms - my body has changed so much....boobs and nipples most noticeable, but my whole shape too - can defiantely see how your body is preparing from the beginnign

V-day (V stands for viability!) is 24 weeks - the point at which the doctors will attempt to save the baby if it comes early. I think it's the earliest they can possibly make a difference, although even then it would likely be touch and go.

    Afternoon

Been feeling sorry for myself over the weekend. I've had a constant pain in my right side for a week and was feeling ill over the weekend so took myself to the doctors this morning. The doctor reckons it's a water infection so have some antibiotics to take.

Hope you manage some rest LittleMoog

    Good luck Pootle

All pretty good here, apart from a bit of heartburn and lack of sleep! I just can't seem to stay asleep for more than an hour or so at a time which is getting really frustrating, especially as I used to sleep like a log! Good practice for when baby comes I suppose...
Baby is kicking like crazy, people at work must think I'm going bonkers as I keep chuckling to myself when I can see my belly bouncing around! Think baby might have inherited daddy's long legs!
24 weeks on Thursday, so will be graduating this thread soon - how the heck did that happen?!
  • Sorry I've been AWOL - had a massively busy work week last week, doing 14 hour+ days so no time to catch up on here!

Moog I'm counting down to v-day too (Thursday for me!) It'll be a nice milestone to reach. Bean we're due date buddies! Only just realised this is the last week til we move onto the next thread. Doesn't trimester 3 only officially start at 26/27 weeks, though?

On Saturday I took DH to a pram shop to play with a few. I went in thinking we'd definitely go for the Joolz Geo but as soon as I saw it next to some others I couldn't believe how big it looked. The chassis was long but so was the carrycot. The shop assistant steered us towards the Uppababy Vista which, pratically, seems excellent. Good size, easy one-button to get cot off, easy fold, big basket etc. It's just not as pretty as the Joolz ones :( I'm tempted by the Joolz Day but there are a few things putting me off, namely the small basket and the fact there is no ventilation or 'peep holes' in the hoods. I'm not sure how important either of these are to me though! It handled beautifully and looks beautiful, but will I regret not making a more practical decision and (possibly) choosing style over substance?

*sweetilemon* I know you went for the Joolz Day - what else did you look at?

I'm also back to square 1 on car seats, having thought we'd get the Kiddy Evo Lunafix for the safety benefit of lie-flat. DH pointed out that this was only really a concern for the first 4-6 months and how many long journeys are we really likely to take in that time. If the Kiddy ISOFIX base was compatible with second stage seats, it wouldn't be an issue but once we discovered we could buy one Maxi-cosi or BeSafe base that would fit not only the 0+ but next stage seat as well, it seems like it'd be a waste to get the Kiddy gear then have to re-buy everything in a year's time.

I need to come on this thread more often so I see the 'DO YOUR PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES' memo more - I've been useless at remembering and will no doubt pay the price!

On the heartburn subject, I had a couple of nights a few weeks ago when I woke up in the night with it (or what I assume was heartburn having never suffered before). Fortunately not noticed it again. One night last week though (after I'd been out for a work meal and eaten far too much - 4 courses!) I woke up with a sick taste in my mouth and eventually had to sit up for the rest of the night as lying down was basically causing me to throw up a bit in my mouth - yuck!

We've got the Uppababy Vista littlesnuggy, the 2012 model as we had it for our first. We love it, the shopping basket is huge, seat position nice and high, and it's very sturdy/good quality. Ours is still pristine after nearly 3 years of use. We're going to buy the buggy board for DD to use once baby arrives, as we won't get much use out of the rumble seat attachment.
