Good Morning everyone
Sorry i've been missing in action, had a busy few weeks as we are trying to move house, fingers crossed for next week (though i've been saying that since october!!)
So i've been having little cramps and stuff in my lower abdomen which i presume to be stretching and movement. but the other week and again last night i had much more painful cramps, almost like bad period pains, it only lasted a few moments, no longer than a minute. I also sometimes get a similar feeling when urinating. Thought I would ask your advice before i call the midwife.
This is all new to me and i must admit i don't enjoy being pregnant, but obviously i don't know what to expect or feel.
Thanks in advance girls xhi0 -

Hi me-charlotte, fingers crossed for your house move!
I get quite a lot of sharp pains in my tummy, especially when standing up/changing position. They're caused by round ligaments stretching out. I often notice that they're worse after weeing, as I think your bladder emptying causes things to shift about or something. Unless it's really bothering you, or accompanied by bleeding etc, I'd assume it's just stretching, and mention to MW at your next appointment. I've got a support belt from mothercare (just a basic one) which helps if I'm on my feet a lot as it supports my tummy muscles/ligaments etc a bit.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
thanks Littlemoog that's what i thought, suppose i just wanted a second opinion as my family are a bunch of hypochondriacs and would panic if they thought something was wrong but apart from these pains i feel fine and no bleeding, so i'll just mention it at my next appointment in a few weeks.
I've been looking at baby stuff and i'm way out of my depth, i think i've found a bedroom set i like but pushchairs, baths, monitors, breast pumps, bottles .......... Theres just so many different options and i dont know where to start and i doubt i've covered everything i am going to need. I could do with a decent win on the lottery to pay for it all. lolhi0 -
Babies don't really need very much, lots of the products on offer are nice-to-haves (or completely useless!) as opposed to being must-haves. I made a huge list when I was pg with DD, and asked my sister to look over it as she'd already had a baby. She said "you do know there will still be shops after you've given birth, right?" :rotfl: I scaled down my list after that!
Before my DD was born we had the basics, so a cot, somewhere to change her and something to store her clothes in, plus a borrowed moses basket for our room. I did also buy some bottles and a manual breast pump at the baby show as they were good value, but we barely used them at first, so realistically could have waited to buy them. I bought an electric pump later on as I couldn't get on with the manual one. Also the carseat and pram it's probably good to have sorted out in advance! With the advent of 24 hour supermarkets etc, I don't think there's much need to have things in for every possible eventuality, I did buy 2 little cartons of formula "just in case" and DH put them out in the shed so they were out of sight. I ended up giving them to a friend who FF as they were going to expire!
Other things that were really good in the newborn period were my feeding pillow (Widgey/Boppy) as I had a c-sec and it kept her off my scar, and we got a basic bouncy chair and soft playmat so there was somewhere to put her down occasionally. Not that she liked it, most newborns like to be held constantly! I'd recommend getting a sling or carrier, stretchy wrap carriers are very cost-effective and easy to use,(lots of tutorials on youtube!), but you may have a sling library in your local area so you can try different types and get some advice there.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Afternoon all
I had my 24 week mw appointment this morning (bit early as I'm away next week). All just routine and normal, got my matb1 form and asked her yo chase up my vbac clinic referral as a consultant had written "suitable for vbac, see soon" in my notes while the hospital had them (up until 20weeks), but helpfully not dated that entry or written whether they did the referral or not! Very useful of them! I'm not really sure what the clinic will entail, but I'm leaning towards a home birth unless I can negotiate access to the midwife led unit, so worth going to find out what the options/recommendations are.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Glad your appt went well Moog and that you can get the midwife to start chasing up the clinic. Was your cs last time planned or emergency? I think a home birth sounds lovely in my head but I think I'd be too scared of something going wrong (as would DH, who is relieved as it is that we live less than 5 mins drive from the hospital!)
I'm 24 weeks today - yippeeeee!! Have a consultant appointment and growth scan first thing tomorrow- can't wait to see baby boy again, just hope he's all on track. Then midwife appointment on Monday morning - seems like there's lots going on at the moment which is exciting!0 -
It was an emergency, I was induced at 42 weeks and all was going well but DD became distressed. I had a debrief a couple of months ago with a senior mw who thought it was unlikely to happen again if I labour naturally this time, as it's more likely for baby to be stressed during inductions.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160

Wow, quite a few 24 week-ers now! 8 more weeks and I'll be graduating this thread too, eeek!
I've made the transition from regular clothes to maternity clothes now as I was finding many of my tops a bit too short for my liking and the waistband of my jeans kept rolling down and exposing my stretch mark laden stomach!
Went to New Look and bought a multipack of 3 vest tops, a multipack of 3 t shirts, 2 pairs of leggings and another top and spent £44. It's a bit annoying that I could have gone to Primark and bought the same for half the amount but the comfort of these clothes is unreal! I've also got some Next maternity leggings and an ASOS swing dress off ebay for £20 in all.
Definitely got a bump now, I feel so round! I've felt a few flutters but nothing I can really put down to the babies yet.
We're trying to sort out furniture for the nursery now. Found some really nice stuff in NCF and we're getting white sleigh cotbeds from Toys R Us. Our next problem is the crib!
I hope everyone is well, good luck for any upcoming appointments and scans xxOur Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016
