Honestly don't remember if they gave something to stop the bleeding, but I don't think they can have as I was put on clexane injections for 10 days to reduce the risk of any thrombosis/embolism (clots).
If you are interested in trying a sling, you can contact your local sling library and hire one for a fortnight to try it out. I would strongly recommend staying away from any of the carriers that don't hold babies hips in an flexed (bent position) (especially as a therapist) as they don't support baby's hips in a natural position if the legs are hanging straight down and become very uncomfortable very quickly.0 -
Thanks, didn't know there was such a thing. Sorry for the nievaty, what type of style would support the hips?0

Ah wait, do you mean like the ones the baby will be lying down?0 -
No, you want to avoid the baby Bjorn style carrier which has a narrow bit between the legs, and look for one with a wide base the supports baby all the way to their knees. For example, we have a Connecta which is a soft structured carrier, but there are loads of different types. Different styles suit different people so trying them out at a sling library is a good idea.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160

Not necessarily lying down, but with the baby supported under the bottom and under their thighs, not just at the crotch, so not slings where the legs hang straight down.
There is a diagram on this page that shows the leg positioning.
Personally I had a wrap when LO was tiny and then moved onto a buckle carrier when she was bigger. If she didn't want to walk everywhere, she could still go in the buckle carrier albeit on my back.0 -
That's a lot to think about saffagal. Not sure I'll feel confident enough straight away, will be terrified of suffication. The hips thing is really interesting, I wouldn't have thought about that because it's so comman to see the straight down ones. Thanks so much.0

The volunteers at a sling library will be able to show you how to wrap/carry safely Sweetilemon. I used a stretchy wrap and our connects from when DD was very tiny. They love to be worn at that age she used to conk out on my chest and sleep for agesLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160

Aww that is so cute. I will wait until after the birth and take LO to a sling library then. I like the idea, I just don't want to do anything wrong!0 -
Ordered the Joolz Day Earth in parrot blue, Cybex Cloud Q car seat and the isofix base today. So excited, can't wait to collect them. Arranged my collection date for the end of January.0
