  • Morning all. I'm finished with work until 5th January. I really need the break to put my feet up and relax. Midwife appointment tomorrow so hope it is still all going well. Hard to tell at this point as sickness has finally eased off and now just have nausea. Other than feeling emotional at times I seem to be really normal. Now have a tiny bump that looks like I have been overindulging myself rather than pregnant. None of my clothes fit so have bought a bump band to keep wearing my jeans a bit longer.

Hope everyone is all ready for Christmas.
  • Morning all!

Sorry I've not been on for a few days - just Christmas stuff nothing exciting!

We went for our 20wk scan last week and it was great to see how much bigger it's getting... much bigger... in fact it is officially a 'big' baby according to the sonographer!
I'm convinced it's a boy, although we are still officially 'team yellow'... as it was just lazing around and wouldn't move out of the shadow (a scar my OH has from surgery a few years ago) so we're gonna have to go back on NYE to allow them to get the pics of it's heart that they couldn't capture the other day - they could see it and everything is ok... they just weren't able to get a clear pic.
The scan also showed up the the baby has a 'large' tummy which we were told is a possible indicator for gestational diabetes which isn't good... they're gonna have another look at it on NYE and then we also have an extra scan booked at 28weeks for further monitoring. Hopefully this won't be anything to worry about...

I still haven't managed to decide on which pram to go for although I have a couple in mind... finding somewhere that actually has them available to view is a different matter! Does anyone know how the distance selling rules apply to prams, as to know whether they are suitable you have to build them and have a 'play' so I'm not sure if they would then be returnable??? We're specifically interested in the Joie Chrome Plus but it only seems to be available online. Does anyone have it... or even know how it differs from the original Joie Chrome (non-plus version)

ashtray heart - hooray for being off work now! I hope you can have a good break over Christmas and aren't going to be too busy! Sympathies for the "in-between" clothes stage - it's so annoying!!!!

downhillfast - glad your scan went well - albeit that you have to go back. At least it means that you see baby again though!!! Hope everything is ok re: the "large" measurements.
Prams - yes that's a tough one - so much choice! And then when we got to a shop to try them out we changed our minds! They are so different in real life! I think we have chosen which one (expensive one eek!) - the Bugaboo Buffalo - although OH's parents have offered to contribute.

Yay to Trixsie for joining the big girl's thread! I'll be joining you soon (24 weeks tomorrow!)

Hope everyone's ready for Christmas!! :xmassmile

  • Downhill has your oh been booked in for the gtt test at 28 weeks? Might just be a big baby and not g.d. Fingers crossed for you both :)

Aunty pickle I'm still here for a little bit the last thread scares me! :)

Re prams we are going in the new year to look at some and see what the weight on them is like as I'd have to pull it up and downstairs to our flat every time we wanted to use it. Luckily my dad has offered to pay for it but that makes the choice even harder as we don't have such a tight budget lol!

2 days till Xmas everyone! Xxx

Hi everyone, hope everyone is prepared for christmas!!!!
Had my 16 wk midwife appt today (little bit late as I'm just over 17wks lol), which went ok, bp taken, all fine. However she did go on about my weight a bit which shocked me a bit, my BMI is 26, so it puts me in the 'overweight group', I think its because I'm only 5ft 2 but I've always been a size 8-10, and had a right lecture about healthy eating and how much I should expect to put on during pregnancy...hmmm.
Enjoy all the festivities ladies. Going to my parents for xmas this year, so looking forward to relaxing a bit this year (hopefully!) xx

Well that just seems rude about the weight thing! My midwife has never once mentioned my weight, and my consultant (have a consultant due to anti-depressants and losing our first baby at 20 weeks) only mentioned it to say that she had to give me the paper on it, but she wasn't bothered by it.

And my weight isn't like yours, just a bit over, my BMI was 51 at booking in, but I've been big since I turned 18, and it doesn't bother me. I eat as healthy as I can (completely off fruit now due to the pregnancy, but I normally love my smoothies!), and we walk everywhere, although I have been having to take the bus for the past few weeks due to spd. Blood pressure is always perfect, blood sugar is always perfect, etc. I'm 31 weeks today, and so far, so good! :)

  • Trixsie - we can go up together! It's like the first day of starting at big school lol! But yes the thought that "it" will be just over 3months is rather :eek::eek:

hippihaz - that's crazy! everyone knows that BMI is a really arbitrary measurement anyway! (well, everyone except that midwife apparently :p!) My OH is deemed "overweight" which is crazy because he is quite muscly. How silly! Anyway, I have found this calculator quite useful in terms of a guide as to how much weight you can expect to gain during pregnancy at each stage:
    http://www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html
Glad everything else was ok though.

OH and I went last minute food shopping this evening so we're now sorted - hooray! :T
So that's everything done and nothing to think about until Christmas Day! And it will just be the two of us (or should that be 3 of us ;)) We figured our last Christmas of peace and quiet! (That and we didn't fancy the 4hr drive down to relatives and then driving round everyone and sleeping on lumpy sofa beds etc!)

Yeah she has gtt thing booked in... That's the glucose blood test thing? Think it's earlier than 28 weeks though... Think it might be Jan 7th but will have to check. It's just one appointment after another for us at the mo! Lol
  • well ladies, 24 weeks today so I guess it is time I went to join the big girls thread :j:eek::j

I will still be lurking to see how you all are!!

    Happy Christmas!
