The available money for both mine and OH 's new 3yr bond is all in Santander 123 in my name alone. Does anyone know whether if he joins in at the end of my phone call with the same NSI person and gives his application details to them, I can then give my Santander details again to pay for his ?

It does say that The debit card must be in your own name and drawn on a UK bank so I guess the answer is that they would not accept you paying.

    From NS&I website
We are aware of the current issue with our website affecting some customers. We are working to correct this. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and are grateful to our customers for their patience.
Our call centres are open 24/7 and we expect the Bonds to be on sale for months rather than weeks.
Thank you for reading this message.

Just applied online and the application went straight through with no problems. Confirmation email received straight away.
I guess late at night is a good time to do it.
  • In all the chaos surrounding the 65+ Pension Bond sale have you heard of any one with our story?

My wife and I separately applied on line, firstly for the 3 year bond on Thursday, wanting to invest £10000 each. Eventually we got into the web site and successfully bought these using our debit cards. The bank account then showed NS&I had reserved the amounts from our joint account, being shown as ‘pending’. NS&I sent each of us e-mails to confirm our purchases.

Later the same day we tried to apply for the 1 year bonds in the same way and again for £10000 each. Thisfailed as the website did not allow us any further investment! We then re-tried yesterday morning and gave up after 3 attempts each when our debit cards were refused. After this experience however we discovered that again our bank account had been debited and the 2 amounts of £10000 had been earmarked as ‘pending’. However we have found no record of these purchases on logging into the NS&I website, and have had no confirmation e-mails!

Later yesterday the money for the 3 year bond purchases was actually debited from our bank account, leaving the 1 year bond monies still showing as ‘pending’. We are now very concerned that this money will disappear to NS&I without any confirmation of their receipt or our purchases.

We cannot contact NS&I to find out what has happened to our money because this is only possible by phone (!!) and the landline number has been impossible to get through on.

What can we do about this and can you help us please ?

I don't think you need to be in a panic over this, Lot's of people have had similar problems, if you were sending the money to some Nigerian scammer you would need to worry but NS&I are not going to steal your money!

No probs last night everything went through for both bonds and confirmation received.
Despite some people on here saying being registered and having an online account for premium bonds wouldn`t count, in fact it made the whole process a lot easier because the first thing it asked was if you were registered with NS&I.

If the "silver savers" have any sense they should snatch this election bribe and come May vote against the Tories for their deliberate policy for the last five years of low saving rates thanks to their Fund for Lending and Help2buy.

Any more than it should subsidise OAPs.
    Or is that 'different'?
Strikes me that those on the left can never resist the politics of envy.

Calm down and be patient. Histrionics will get you nowhere (except an early grave maybe).
I bought 10k of the 3-year on Thursday but the session crashed immediately after I had hit enter on the debit card transaction authorisation screen.
    No reference number, no email.
Funds were earmarked in my account.
Checked yeterday, nothing showing when I logged on to my NS&I account, however the funds had cleared from my account.
This morning, logged onto NS&I, all OK - bonds are listed .

The difference is the so called OAPs are putting £10 BILLION into the government`s coffers.
The people who are buying houses with cheap money, and paying well over the odds for the property, are being subsidised by taxpayers.
You can`t possibly know what mine or for that matter anyone`s politics are on these boards.
There`s more envy directed at "OAPs" and how well off they are on these boards than anywhere, by of course the envious.
They seem to think any wealthy oaps was just handed their wealth on a plate and never had to earn it.
