  • Virgin not automatically issuing refunds. You have to through their website, locate APD Refunds [ on main page ] and follow link to e-mail them.
    No mention of not refunding.

Did you ever get your money back because I'm travelling in July and booked last year and they are refusing because tickets should have been booked between some dates in december and that's not correct

    Any ideas concerning Philippine Airlines?
Scire tuum nihil est, nisi te scire hoc sciat alter
  • Surely if you are traveling with children under 12 years after the 1st May and the travel company charged you (stating) it is tax then it is illegal for the company to keep the money as it would have been paid to HMRC. As this is not now needed to be paid to them then it would be classed as false advertising and fraud to keep money for tax.
If I have no hope with the travel company Omegaflight store who else do I need to contact for them illegally charging me for tax that doesn't exist. I am very upset that if the company knew that airport duty was stopping for under 12's and the flight takes place after the 1st May to claim its for take is breaking all sorts of laws (trade description act) obtaining money under deception etc what can I do to ensure that they can get away with this, I have paid £203 in under 12 airport duty!

Omega are only an agent. If the airline in question hadn't repriced their flights at the time of booking, the agent will charge what the airline are charging them. The agent needs to receive a refund from the airline before they can refund you. Do you know whether the airline has refunded the APD yet?

How many children are you taking? £203 is a strange figure.

I am another who is furious with BA over their attitude toward this. I don't know where to turn now however and would welcome any suggestions.

We booked for USA in November for travel this October and have 2 kids. I have been corresponding via letter and received the same response as the PP. Yesterday, I received a phone call and again outlined that other airlines are refunding APD so why do BA think their procedure of not refunding until after travel is reasonable. This tax will not now be collected from BA so why should they hold this from 1 May to end October. The chap said he might be able to refund it after 1 May and would check. However he called back and said this wasn't possible as their system couldn't do this and it could not be manually overwritten.

Any ideas on what to do now?

I am in the same boat, BA get to invest money thats not there's in some ponsy scheme until such times as they can refund the monies which conveniently can only be refunded exactly a month after you fly\return. Meanwhile BA's shareholders are like  which makes me :(.

To add to this I can still remove car hire to my booking or change hotels to a cheaper hotel for a small admin fee and reduce the cost of the holiday. When would I get that refund.
  • we booked a flight with air Canada is there any news on how we claim the air tax back. have looked on their website and nothing.

I booked my childs flights in January. I have been told that I didn't pay tax so won't be getting a refund.

There are amounts for tax on the the invoice, but they have codes next to them, so I am not sure how to check whether I paid it or not .

    any help ?
