Can anyone help with this, I contacted my bank with regards to claiming back bank charges due to the fact I am in financial hardship, I was informed that I would need to send a letter and £10.00 to them. Is this correct, I don't have a spare £10.00 to be able to do this.
    Thanks

    Yes it is.

Would the template letter on this web page be suitable if I'm claiming for financial hardship?

Yes as the guidelines for claiming hardship are here.

The test case is still in the courts and with the OFT so all still on hold. Have a read http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/oft-bank-charges - and you can get your complaint in to the bank now, although it will be kept on hold.

It really depends what the fees and charges are, also what type of finance agreement you have. I would start up your own thread with a bit more detail.

    Hiya,

My case is on hold due to the test case but having been made redundant in November 2008 i am intending to ask them to look at it now due to "discontinuation of regular credits"

I just wondered if there was a letter for this rather than the original 2 letters which i sent ages ago.

I have looked but couldnt find anything. If it helps its for HSBC.

1 last thing, when i originally requested charges back i didnt request and interest or "inconvience", whats the thought on this, just go for the straight refund and leave the rest alone? push for max? personal choice?

    Thanks in advance

  • I successfully claimed over £3000 from Halifax bank back in early 2007 but have since then incurred anumber of charges on the same account.

I want to try and reclaim these but am unsure if I can given my previous claim.

Can anyone shed any light on it for me?

    Thanks
  • Does anyone know if the charges can be recovered from a personal business account? I was a sole trader and was charged over £300 in 2 months for going over overdraft, purely due to unpaid item fees. Have written to HSBc and they are unwilling to pay anything.

I realise it is in appeal to House of Lords. Was just the theory I was wondering about. Thanks. This has been so useful.
